Try VGA if you have it, but HDMI should work.

By design, most mobos recommend putting RAM in slots 2 and 4 first. So if it's a single stick, I usually put it in slot 2.

It looks crooked since it isn't flush with the case. The case may just be weird though.

There should't be a big gap. Looks like it's only partially seated. Just take it out and try again with a slight bias to seating the rear first. Make sure there aren't any screws or slot covers blocking it. Should have a hole to screw to the case

It's not perfectly flush, but way less of a gap than yours.

I had the screw out so that I could remove the card. Still no luck with the screw in.

We must be opening different machines. I remember shitty old cabinets from the '90s but every commercial machine I've seen since '00-ish has been "somewhat" thoughtfully laid out. Compaq, Dell, HP... Granted the best and heaviest ones were the IBM AIX Desktop servers but those were damn spendy.

I guess as long as you don't have 2 fans fighting each other, more can't hurt.
