You did at least imply he was drinking and that led to the crash. Wikipedia simply says he was driving too fast 55-78(?) in a 35. No mention of drinking

Drink and drive generally refers to driving drunk, doesn't it?

Really? From same Wikipedia article that you supposedly "read":

"Heatley, who was driving between 55–82 mph in a 35 mph zone"

"Heatley was charged with vehicular homicide; he pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular homicide, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain a lane and speeding. He admitted to drinking prior to the incident, but his blood-alcohol content was below the legal limit."
