You have a 5 speed or 6 speed in the spyder? I have a header and tune on the FRS and it is quick enough. If I could get the Spyder to feel like that (or faster as you say) I would be good with it I think. |

Dashcommand told me I'm making 207HP and 181 torques tonight. Not sure if serious.

Transport Canada. They kept that one short and simple.

That said, the Russian Easter Overture and 1812 Overture were absolutely phenomenal in my old 4runner. As long as I wasn't driving, so I could hear the quiet parts. |

With the 5 speed it's still fast, but obviously your ratios aren't as close which is not as fun.I think all said and done, the 2ZZ is worth it, but in California if you are mechanically inclined and don't care that much for the high revs, you might want to just supercharge the 1ZZ so it's easy to get past smog. With a very high budget, I would do a 1NZ-FE with Apexi PFC and bellhousing swap between the C60 and C52, and then put a TVS 900 or Rotrex on it. Some guy raced a stock 1NZ with a turbo strapped on and overclocked to 8000rpm for years without a problem, which is kind of crazy haha. That would match the power of a 2ZZ, but be 50lbs lighter. Something similar would be a 2ZR-FE swap with Rotrex, heavier but more reliable, or a 2AR-FE swap, which would be more powerful and reliable, but quite a bit heavier. The thing with the 2ZZ swap is that it's just so so easy. You buy a motor for 1200 bucks, an ECU for 200, a swap header for 500, the mount for 75, and the harness adapter for 300, and right there you have a 11.5 compression nearly 200bhp motor with a decent tune from the factory. It's not as strong or powerful as a K20, but replacement engines are quite cheap and for street driving the 2ZZ shouldn't have any problems. |

There are legal SC kits for the 1zz??? I actually don't like higher revs when cruising which kills me with the stock car so a SC would be perfect. |

One thing I've wanted to do (although I would prefer a newer engine to do this with, because the 1ZZ is really old and not that great) is to modify the alternator and drive a supercharger with an RC car motor. You buy the cold side of a big turbo for 200 bucks, get a 40000rpm motor with controller for 300, hack up your alternator's regulator circuit so it produces more voltage, and then add a DC-DC converter to power the car's electronics for 200 more. Much cheaper than a supercharger kit, and you don't need to worry about changing the supercharger gear oil or clutch. It would be good for around 200bhp. If you had a lot of money, you could swap in a Honda engine with a Jackson Racing supercharger kit, but it would be like 15k. The one place that you can save money on with all this is that a supercharged engine producing more power would be good to pair with the longer geared C66 transmission, which can be found much cheaper than the other LSD equipped Toyota transmissions. |
