Braking techniques would carry over if karts had front brakes. Think about how it would feel if all you had was your handbrake.

I struggle with braking on karts too.

Nah, there's a big difference between just dynamat vs. dynamat plus high density foam plus low density foam. On one hand, you'll already have it all apart, so you might as well. On the other hand, it's more work, more materials, more cost, and more time for a benefit that you may not need.

If you're not going to go crazy with sound deadening, I'd really only worry about the trunk if it becomes a problem. The goal is to mute road noise around the passengers, not mute road noise in the trunk. Unless you drive with the seats down or put passengers in the trunk frequently. Your license plate might buzz against the trunk, so maybe put something under that to keep it from hitting.

Was watching the Barrett Jackson auction last night and not sure if I remember correctly (there were so, so many cars) but I believe it was a 66 Corvette that had a front brake delete as a factory option!

Well not sure if "passengers" is the right word for who goes in the trunk!

I used to have my seats down all the time til the rattling from the sub started. If i could get back to that I'd be happier

Then I would definitely take a look at everything nalc did for his trunk. And potentially under the rear deck as well.

I spent about 120$ adding a powered sub in my trunk. Super happy with it. Install was easy. Probably going to switch to the Subaru factory option sub though as it tucks in the corner instead of occupying half my trunk. It's about $300 used in the classifieds

That is an option as well but they are pretty scare up here and I don't want to pay exchange to bring one up. Buying one new form the dealer is just way more than it is worth I think.

I could run 50/50 blends and make a 55 gallon drum last a couple months. E50 is the peak of the efficiency delta I think and air temps stay pretty low around here.
How fast were you going? I averaged around 36mpg in my FR-S. The FA20 goes into closed loop enrichment at very low load, so leaning out the tune helped a lot when going up hills. I set the idle to 600rpm which saved 10% at idle. Then the VVT settings gave me 1mpg at steady state 60-65mph cruise.

The hardest part about getting good mpg was that when I was trying to find parking in SF, I would burn through a crazy amount of fuel because the FA20's efficiency drops like a rock below 2000rpm, and the 2800lb curb weight is much more than my Spyder's 2200lb curb weight. The Spyder managed to get 25-27mpg going between stop signs while the FR-S struggles to do 22.

Nowadays I just have my 2ZZ Spyder as a track toy and I don't drive to work, so I don't care about fuel economy anymore. The stock tune on the 2ZZ is not bad, the AFR is around 12.8 at red line and it runs closed loop stoich whenever you're below 3700rpm or something. It gets around 40mpg on the freeway, which is good enough for the rare occasion it gets to go on the freeway.

Whats the spyder like compared to your twin? And does your twin have header and tune?

I have a Spyder but cant imagine keeping it for a lot longer. The 2zz seems like the lack of torque would make it not as good a DD still.

Well, that's beyond stupid. NHTSA was formed in 1970. What's the Canadian equivalent?

Keep in mind that you have much less weight on the Spyder, so it actually feels much more torquey than an FR-S even though the stock tune on the 1ZZ and 2ZZ has very bad low end torque. At least that's how I feel about it, when I get into my FR-S my immediate thought is "gosh this is really slow". Some people think a 1ZZ has more torque, but they're plain wrong, the 2ZZ is actually a little bit stronger in the low end, the same around 3000rpm, and slightly weaker in the 5000-6000rpm range before the second cam engages. The small cam has lower duration which is better for the low end, but very low lift which chokes the engine a little.

My FR-S is basically stock. I flashed it back to stock since I'm trying to sell it, but with the tune it had appreciably more grunt than stock. A header would help a lot, but it is a s***load of money and you would also have to find the right smog check person to stuff a few benjamins which is not cool.

I like to think of the Spyder like a motorcycle with some pannier bins, the only thing you carry in it is yourself plus a bag or two. Performance wise it's plenty fast with a stock 2ZZ. A tune gets you into the 200bhp range before any physical modifications, and brings the low end torque up a good amount, and would be perfect as far as power is concerned IMO. A K20 or 2AR-FE would be better for durability however.

New random thought:

Why the fuck does literally nobody listen to anything other than annoying rap, or ear-piercing metal these days? Here's a gorgeous performance of "All I Ask of You' from 'Phantom of the Opera' just to piss you all off (also, Sierra Boggess is a cutie):
