Works for shadows and panel lines as well. Surprisingly the method can add very little colour to the flat surfaces so you can actually make all the detail pop without changing the actual colour much. That is how the pilot's uniform is done to make the folds stand out but not really change the colour. It looks much better in real life since the camera makes everything look very stark when really the effect is much more subtle.

About 98% of the guys knew what I said the first time!

You don't have to make it look old I just chose to do in that case. Those planes got dirty while shooting down those Jap...anese Mitsubishis in WW2.

The same method will give you nice distinct panel lines and a clean finish on the flat surfaces if that is what you want.

I have never heard about anybody doing the same technique on any forum, website or magazine. Using the Future is very common but tinting it to do highlighting is my own invention (as far as I can tell).
I stumbled across it by accident when I was painting with black acrylic paint and dipped my brush into a jar of Future instead of thinner by accident. Then I just left the mistake to clean up later but when I saw the stuff flow into the details and create "shadows" I loved it. Experimented with different mixes until I got it just right. Do it on every single model now since it makes detail that would be almost invisible jump out and gives a great base for weathering.

Someday when I find one:

I spent hundreds of hours flying in and working on 006. If I dig through boxes I'm sure I will find pics of it.

Haha you could of said it. It's not like they didn't. It's part of history, so I ain't getting upset or offended. Cuz I'm pretty sure Zerosen did same thing.

Either way, when I get more serious bout paint models, I'll ask again
