For the young-ens who may have never seen a "real" trunk. Yep, I reckon that's a full sized spare in there.

LOL a convertible SS at that. The fun part is that even then it seemed like an old car and had just finsished an extensive body restoration for rust just before I bought it ($800 if I remember right. I still have the bill of sale at home so can check) but the reality is that it would be the same as buying a 2005 car today. Not many 2005 cars that are that rusted out so bad. When they say "they don't make 'em like they used too" they are very correct. I poured so much money into that thing just to keep it running it was ridiculous. I mean, like really, $150 for an engine swap, $80 for a whole new rear end supplied and installed, a $40 rad replacement. I mean really, it barely left me $5 week for smokes and a beer or two!

Even back then, as much as I would have loved to have owned a big v8, every time I had to fill up I was glad to be driving a 1500 cc beetle.
