The first time my to be son in law (a big fellow) came to the door to pick up my daughter for a date, I had my trench knife at the ready.

He said who he was and way he was there. I opened the door all the way up and let him in and put my weapon back in the drawer in a stand in the foyer.

I said that my daughter was in the back yard splitting wood ..... (that's was for real).

Between my WWI trench knife and my daughter with an ax ....... he has behaved himself ever since.

Actually I would love some insight. i have done a few papers on the Cuban Missle Crisis and it really did seem like we were that close to the world getting blown to hell. What was it actually like?
Tcoat said it best but I'll pile on. In my case, people died just doing their jobs. A carrier flight deck is a treacherous place. Add to that the pucker factor of flying in a forty year old plane known for its tricky behavior, high op tempo, Chinese fighter pilots with itchy trigger fingers, etc. and it becomes a truly mentally and physically exhausting experience. I've seen more than my share of violent death. One was a direct report of mine, a trainee, and we weren't even at "war" with anyone.

It took me years to "recover" from all that. Everyone deals with trauma in their own way. Everyone has different tolerance for it.

Today, I don't mind vh_supra reposting clickbait articles in the other-automotive section because it means I'm not giving a shitty blog ad money and he gets nothing in return.

Fuck, maybe he 'writes' those shitty articles copy pasting press releases and is trying to make ends meet by boosting the viewcount posting here?

Ebay probably. May be illegal in many States though since it has the built in knuckle duster.

I just stick to the good old easy to get WW2 bayonet.

Replica - $25 and can be had at many places.

Real one - $500 to $1,000 and good luck finding it.

He's one of the few people on my ignore list for that reason. He once necrobumped a thread with near-irrelevant and sometimes old articles, and when called out on it, he justifies his actions by claiming this was how things on FT86Club were done in the past and calls the thread "official," saying that everything relating to X car model should go, even if the thread title is focused on only one specific car and not necessarily other cars of the same model.

Making threads on clickbait articles is annoying, but necrobumping threads with said clickbait articles is just as annoying if not slightly worse.
