Though, the scariest experience of my life was being a bay NCO on a grenade range, and having a troop drop the grenade on the ground after they pulled the pin. I'd take a lifetime of rifles being turned on me over another dropped grenade.

WOW ...... I can identify with THAT!

As range officer on a hand grenade range, I had a quick reacting NCO pick up and toss a armed grenade, that a troop had dropped, over the sandbag wall. I swear that was the longest 8 seconds of my life .....

I have seen a couple of very sad looking cops in Canada but a 5 minute drive over to Detroit is scary! Most look like they can barely get into their car.

yeah, some of the guys on the street couldnt run down a donut that they dropped successfully. and that is a scary thought if they need to catch someone armed or whatever

I've sometimes considered running from cops fat cops just to make them feel bad about being too fat to do their jobs

Muzzle sweeping is the most terrifying thing at the range for me. Most of the time you know it's chambered and you can see their finger curled around the trigger while it's slowly pointing towards you in slow motion while you duck down and yell at them. Outside of the actual event is the RO's coming up and yelling for 5 minutes straight about safety and then kicking them off the range. Serves those people right for not at least teaching their friend or trying to stop them.

Yep, I could never understand, why some soldiers had such a hard time with the concept of "up and down range" .......

how long does a grenade have before it blows and how long did it feel like?

US grenade ....... from 4 to 9 seconds ..... depending on how it is feeling that day.
