Key Fob
Obviously loosing a key fob would be a $500 expense I am not excited about.
I have my mobile number taped to the back of my remote with a label maker. Trouble is, it's tacky and it wears-off rather quickly. I am considering something small and lightweight so my key fob could be retuned to me if lost. For now, my only idea is a aluminum dog-tag with just my first name and mobile number stamped on it. Thin, weights nothing and is cheap. eBay, 2 personalized tags for $5.00 shipped!! Anyone doing something similar?? Thoughts? Thanks. |

I think it'd be a cool idea.. maybe just a phone #
Kind of like the Key ID that is on one key? ![]() I've never lost a car key in my life.. so I've never considered it. The $500 fee is more motivation for me to make sure I never lose it. |

How about one of those bluetooth trackers? I think it directs you to your keys within 100 ft.

I never take my keys out of my pocket. I have a lanyard on them and I sometimes hang them around my neck or have them in my pocket. it's easily noticeable if you leave a place without your keys since I either don't feel them around my neck or don't see the lanyard hanging out of my pocket.

I lost one mt biking and have no idea where the valet key went. I've been living with one for a while now and I'm so afraid something is going to happen and I'll be stranded somewhere. I keep thinking of taking it apart and taping the chip to the steering column near they ignition switch and getting a couple of plain keys cut.

So, if someone finds your keys they can do a reverse number lookup and get your name and address?
Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. |

Well, maybe. However, for -me- my mobile is a work number and my car garaged and alarmed. Their move . . . . and I'm insured as well.

I couldn't do it, because my number leads directly to where I live and park my car. My bank gave me a clever thing. It's a small metal amulet I have attached to my key ring with their postal address, a unique number and the text "Please put in the nearest mailbox - postage will be paid by the recipient" They promise to keep that number linked to me as long as I keep my account there. |

Do you guys have the War Amps key tags in the States? They've been carrying out that function for years.

I do have all my keys attached to a slim wallet of mine. I've have yet to lose my keys for more than several seconds. I can always feel that I have them because I can feel the wallet in my pocket, and against the fabric of the pocket and wallet, it is really, really hard to slip out; even in silky pants with a shallow pocket.

...and it's the only key fob to sport the standard Toyota design along with the Subaru logo on the back.
