Right side wheel(s) squeaking?

Hey everyone. The problem arose a few months ago when I was driving and I heard my right side wheels start squeaking. When I first heard the squeaking it was as the tires spun and would get louder and lower as they spun. Then the squeaking went away entirely and I thought it was nothing, but it came back. Since then the squeaking has been on and off and now squeaks when I use the brakes with the same in and rhythm as the tires spin. I'm assuming it's the brake pads but I'm not sure why they would come and go. Anyone else have this issue or know a solution?

Is it like: squeak squeak squeak. Then it gets louder? Can you describe it more?

Wait, I think I know what it is...
It's a rock between your pad and rotor.

I don't think it's a rock between the pad/rotor or rotor/heatshield. I've had that occur a couple of times with my old LGT and it sounded like bloody death until I was able to get it out. Worn pads would also make a constant squeal when the brakes are applied or all the time if they're really worn.

I was thinking maybe a wheel bearing but that would be more of a constant humming sound.

So really... no ideas from me.

It's more of a consistent: squak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak,... And gets faster as I'm coming to a stop from a higher speed and slower when coming to a stop from a slower speed. Also, I noticed that braking also leads to me bearing to the right. Maybe my brake calipers have something to do with it? Both problems never arise at the same time though.

Sounds like, he he, a warped or worn rotor. I just did two rear, and it fixed my squeak. It only happened in reverse... anyway, get it checked out.

I would suggest taking off your wheel and just inspecting it. If theres something caught in your brake pads take them out and inspect it. It isn't that hard and can be done with jackstands at your own home for with the jack supplied to you on the side of the road if need be. Just whenever dealing with brake things it's going to be really dirty because of all the brake dust.

Could this be possible even if the car is only a little over a year old? And I bought it brand new?

Depending on how you drive, the brakes can be worn very quickly. Rotors are fairly inexpensive. I'm sure there is a DIY guide on here.

My brakes chirp after the car has been sitting because the rotors oxidize ridiculously fast (they'll chirp after sitting in the work parking lot for 8 hours) but it goes away completely after the first stop or two and won't return until the car sits for half a day or so.

So that's totally normal if that matches what you're saying but you weren't very specific so idk.

rotors like a nice even glaze...'warped' rotors are usually not run out but hard spots (cementite) formed on the rotor surface. turning them will make them pretty but the harder area will still exist. you can try to bed the pads again but it is likely you will need to swap out pads and rotor to get rid of the trait.

I like to go take a spin around the block after a wash to dry the rotors (plus it shakes the residual water out of the mirrors.)
