i would say you can just cut the visible portion of the plate holder off.

remove it from the car, affix your plate, cut off the visible portion of the holder.

a better way is just ditch the holder and mount the plate directly onto the bumper.

hoping the holes would line up but i doubt it.

Yeah this is what I am hoping for.

Looks like I might be the first to try it out on the weekend

I checked, the holes of the holder and the holes of the plates do not line up (at least on mine). But the holder does look like it could be removed.

Would it be illegal to drill new holes in the plates?

In QLD I couldn't see any rule as to needing to a plate holder.

(Current car has it screwed right into the bumper).

its technically illegal because the plates are property of the state if i recall correctly and if you got a really picky cop, you can get pinged for it.

import owners bending the rear plate to fit into the recess usually get stung by this law (in NSW at least)

moving a screw could be seen as an attempt to obstruct clear visibility of the characters if you got a really evil cop.

mounting it directly on the bumper could cause wear to the paint. maybe back it with some rubber cement or something and let it cure before mounting, or mount it with some rubber washers.

More then likely... Just make a bracket that matches the holes of the previous holder and has holes for where the plate needs to be attached (done for one of my other cars).

Yes bending or deforming the plate is illegal...... mounting a number plate with a screw on a holder which means you screw the plate which has pre drill whole to a holder would be no different to screwing it to a bumper...EDIT: You weren't talking to me... I should keep my mouth shut lolz.

Who said anything about moving screws?EDIT: You weren't talking to me... I should keep my mouth shut lolz.

Good idea. If you screw the plate securely i don't see how it could move any differently whilst mounted to a holder or to the bumper...

Which state you from?

Can't you have the ones that stick to the inside of the window?

(if from NSW i know they have to have them on the outside of the car)
