That's cool that you and your wife share the same diet. My wife ate meat when we married. I never pressured her to become vegetarian. I was actually surprised when she told me it had been a year since she had eaten any meat; and that she wasn't going to again.

Being vegan and traveling proved to be nearly impossible for me. The only thing I could find some places was a cheese pizza...

I do get tired of the question: "How do you get protein?"

To be 100% vegan is tough, 'mericans put cheese, and milk in everything! Then you have things like, Lipton Beefy Onion soup mix, which is vegan, LOL.

Oreos are vegan as well. You would think "cream" filling would use a dairy product of some kind, but apparently not. Makes me wonder what its made of instead...

Doesn't it depend on the "strictness" of you vegan status?

Based on the Oreo FAQ site, Nabisco lists them as Vegetarian, but not Vegan. It is primarily due to cross contamination in their production not the actual ingredients in the cookies.

(I know this because MomHawk has food allergies so we check just about everything that comes in the house)

I guess it would come down to the individual person whether or not a product that may have touched an animal product is still vegan.

If I cook a steak in a pan, then wash it out, and then make a veggie stir fry in the same pan, is my stir fry no longer "vegan"?

I don't get how dairy products are such an issue (if it's an ethical thing). Like you don't want to eat poor defenseless wildlife fine but is drinking milk from free range cows unethical?

I'm not vegan so I'm not speaking with any authority here, but I believe its because the product was produced by "animal labor". Another example is honey. You don't have to kill bees to get honey, but honey is produced by the labors of the bees. So, to a vegan, its unethical to eat honey.
