Driving after the car has been sitting outdoors in hot weather - engine cuts out

Hi all, just a bit of background before going into detail:

Prior to this issue occurring, I had just had some custom work done to my turbo setup. I switched out a chinese Turbo for a Garrett GT3076R due to some oil leak issues.

I've had an issue that has occurred 3 times so far. After the car has been sitting outdoors in hot weather for a few hours (we're talking about 35C+ air temp) the car will start up fine, but after about 1 minute of driving, the engine would cut out and lights would flash up on the dash. No error codes are detected via my OBD2 tool.

Once the cars come to a stop, I would start it up again and all 3 times I have driven it home fine (i'd be on the road for 45-60mins) without it happening again.

The first 2 times it happened my car had not been retuned since the turbo swap. I then had a road tune done a few weeks ago and it happened again just yesterday. I still intend to do a dyno tune in a few weeks time once I get my boost controller in.

But all 3 times, the car had been sitting outside in hot weather. Most of the time the car is garaged and I would never have this issue when starting up the car.

Any ideas or suggestions on what it could be?

Sounds like an ecu problem and or a ground. I had a car that would randomly shut off and stop running and that’s what it ended up being

+1 for @Zentec. Wild guess: Check all the mount screws for the DI injector driver box.

I have no idea of what could cause that ........ but, I seriously doubt it has anything to do with your car sitting in the hot sun .......

Is fuel evaporation possible? I used to own a little turbocharged pocket rocket that used to refuse to start after a session of driving in hot weather as the heat under the bonnet cooked the fuel..

you need to figure out first whether you are losing fuel pressure or spark and chase the problem from there. Use Torque Pro to log fuel pressure and fuel trims and see what it's doing leading up to stalling out.

No, that's bullshit.

Guessing is way more efficient. That's how the dealer techs do it.
