That car had 100hp and weighed slightly more than a starving bird. 14" wheels with what probably equate to wheelbarrow tires today.
You will be re-living a modernized version of this experience.

My driving history has been MG Midget> MGB GT>Datsun 240Z>Miata>FRS

So while more of a serial mid-life crisis rather than sudden, the FRS does fall in line with my idea of what a sports-car is meant to be; an adequately powered car that is light on its feet with an engaging chassis. A sports car should make you WANT to change direction of travel as a form of entertainment.

Nissan made a huge mistake when they did not release a car like the FRS as the new 240Z and instead went with the more Bloated 370Z

It's a great car and you won't regret it. Comfy, nimble, good looking, easy on MPG and you can throw the ass around (if you're so inclined) without having to burn through $800 tires.

I've only had my FR-S for a couple months now, but I love how natural the steering, throttle, and brakes feel. Many newer cars feel artificial, if that makes sense.

It'll be another 11 year wait before I can legally import one. I think it would be hilarious with a Hayabusa motor in it.

Get it, its fun, it will feel like your old gokart if you have one as a kid. It's a gokart on the street, so how can you argue with that.

I'm 47 and I drive mine every day to work, ripping up gears and twisties now since I can take back roads!

As for dependability, Its 2yrs old by me, 2yr by someone else. I bought it at 43k miles and now has 62k miles on it. Toyota has taken care of all the maintenance and I follow it by book. Some easy stuff you can do, but other stuff it takes a lift, IE spark plugs, its recommended you lift the engine , but they took mine completely out
I really haven't had any problems with my 13 and I drive it pretty hard. No thats a lie I drive it really hard

Really??

I owned a Outback years ago and just put the front on jack stands and removed the wheels to reach the heads. That's the big advantage of the boxer engine is that it can sit right over the front axle.

One of the things I enjoy is doing my own wrenching. I like knowing the job is done right, and I am very particular about the quality of the fluids and filters used in my vehicles.

That's a big draw of the 86/BRZ for me. Seems to be a fairly simple car. About as basic as you can buy today.

If I could afford it, I'd own an Ariel Atom. It's my dream car. Weighs nothing, open air, no electronic tomfoolery, and the engine is out in the open so it's easy to work on.

Atom 3 Specifications

Performance

• 230 bhp @7500 RPM • 200 lbs/ft torque @4400 RPM
• 0-60mph: <3.3 sec • 0-100mph: ≈7.2 sec
• 1/4 mile: ≈ 11.2 sec • VIR Full Course: ≈2:08

1350 lbs
