Aren't the brown marks up the middle of the plug from the coil packs grounding and burning it? Thinking you might need new coils soon.

175,000km... they needed a change. the coil pack looked to be in fine shape honestly, wish i snapped a pic. even when i was measuring them for depth they looked really good on the inside.

i think the discoloration you are referring to is corona stain.. but maybe someone more educated on the matter can chime in

It defiantly looks way easier on the video

So, what is everyone's objection to jacking the engine to do this anyway? Is it mostly just not having the equipment?

Seriously curious. I personally wouldn't attempt it without doing it that way, just seems simplest and less knuckle damaging approach.

Probably have never jacked the engine up, so they think it is way harder then it actually is.

for the first 165,000 km, i would categorize it as crawling on the 401 at 5km/h 5 days a week :P

i was gonna say, those black looks like low rpm, rich condition. white-ish looks like it's running a little hot, but mostly normal.

i've been practicing for owning an L24 240z with webbers...

Webers are a lot of fun, as long as you don't mind fiddling with them on a weekly basis. Very sensitive to weather and engine health, but when they're dialled in, they're great. Just takes a few minutes as long as you stay on top of them. I've had DCOEs, DCNFs, and IDFs in probably half a dozen vehicles...

Just changed my plugs.
It’s a sub 2hour job going slow and steady
IF you jack engine up.
Prep the engine bay, remove strut braces, removing ecu, fuel rail covers, and i moved/ziptied every wire/hose out the way. Only thing extra you need to do in engine bay to jack engine is undo intake pipe.
Then put front on stands. Remove skid plate, and the 1 bolt on each engine mount. undo the one bolt on front pipe hanger to allow exhaust to move more freely. Then i used a 12” 2x2” on the exposed engine mount bolt on engine side to jack that side up one at a time. Be careful and go slow when jacking up to make sure nothing gets snagged up. Was about 20 extra mins to jack engine up and then took 10mins per side to change plugs and coils with ease.

Zero scratch job. Plenty of space for a torque wrench this way too.

Do you need to undo the shifter or linkages when jacking up the engine (auto)

The intake pipe you speak of is that the over pipe?

Didn’t touch shifter link (also auto). I undid frontpipe hanger bolt (not sure if necessary but easy and better safe than sorry). Intake pipe to throttle body (again not sure if necessary but easy and better safe than sorry.)

Have you got a pic of the front pipe hanger bolt.

I get what you mean with the intake pipe now.
