GM 3 bar map

Hi, I've searched around and I can't seem to find anyone using a GM 3 bar map sensor (PN 12223861)

If anyone has used one with the twins could you please chime in? Seems to be significantly cheaper than other map sensors.

It doesn't appear it would fit our IM at all. It is not a great idea to cheap out on sensors when applying FI to this engine.

With the proper adapter, you can make pretty much any sensor fit in a remote location.

Whether the sensor you choose is reliable is another story. You are looking at GM part mind you.

As long as you can scale it in the tune and connect the wiring properly, it should work.

In the application below, I have used an adapter to remotely mount my stock MAP sensor for testing purposes. The gauges are there to check pressure upstream and downstream from the red air filter which I am using as a pressure pulsation limitation chamber.

This is a project that I started quite a while back which I will be testing on my Harrop SC install to smooth out the positive displacement pulsations in order to increase the reliability and performance of the tune.

In most applications of the GM 3 bar it looks like it's mounted remotely. Seems to be far more popular with the evo,DSM and turbo civic crowd. I think they have a vacuum line going to the sensor which is mounted on the firewall?

Great idea with the adapter. I was thinking teeing into the brake booster vac line running a line to the map sensor. Woold this work? Or is a direct source from the manifold like what you did better? Thanks

I would say directly to the manifold would be best in the case of using your existing manifold in the build.

All of the turbochargers will use the stock manifold and all of the top-mount, positive displacement-type superchargers out for this platform will bolt on in place of the manifold. Some of the superchargers use a different MAP sensor to mount up to their runners, such as Edelbrock, but there are a couple, like the Harrop, that use the stock-type Denso MAP sensor. There are Omni brand MAP sensors from 2.5 bar on up in the same style as our OEM sensors as well.

The MAP sensor port adapter that I picked up which will fit onto the stock manifold can be found here:
