Before you drift make sure you see two yellow off lights on your dash lol. I mainly use the powerover or feint technique. I only use the e-brake to "clean up" my finish on a drift, you could also use it to stay sideways in a straight line when used during a drift. You might also wanna try down shifting from 4k on 3rd into 2nd as you turn hard. There is no wrong way to drift really...as long as you drift how you need or want to for the course. It's all about results right?

I went to a local drift event and here is what the insstructor told me to practice.

Stop your car in the middle of a wide open space
Put it in first and go to a rpm that will make your tires squeel
Let go of the clutch and turn hard the way you want tog go (left or right)
And then counter steer giving taps of gas

I'm a beginner lol

How to drift.
Step 1 buy a logitech g25/27
Step 2 download live for speed
Step 3 calibrate wheel and set it at 720 degrees.
Step 4 practice.
Honestly it translates to real life better than any game. Yes even gt5.
First time I toke my 240sx out to lay a phat skid at age 16 I felt like I had been doing it for years from my experience on lfs.

Yeah this is my first RWD car so this is exactly what I did lol. Find a nice empty secluded lot, stop, get the wheels spinning and try to maintain a drift donut to get used to counter steering and the feel of the car.

The first time I did it I managed to actually maintain control and do a complete drift donut with out spinning out. I know it may sound stupid but I feel like the 100's of hours of experience I have in racing/drifting from playing the Gran Turismo series with the steering wheel has helped my real life driving skills lol

While it gives you an idea on the concept, it doesn't compare to real seat time.

Another tip?

WATCH IN CAR VIDEOS!!!!! After a few minutes, you'll start to realize how every input made changes the line, speed and angle of the car.

Is anyone going to the Maple leaf bash??

I have been to only one drift event this year.. Last year did a couple of day with the car.

I usually am running 235-40-17 re-11 up front and use 205-to 225 for the rear on dry day!

Will take these 2 days to try new stuff. Last time i went i had put michelin sport cup in the back 225-45-17, they were 4 years old and bald, but still had too much grip!

I love the car in stock form for drifting, i will be doing some alignement ajustement on friday before the event.

Do you guys has some video?? we could do a compilation!! Too bad i have seen this thread too late!!

Here is some video of the car drifting:

Rainy set up tire are RE-11 in 235-40-17 all around!!

Loads of videos and pics on my build thread. Still only running 215/45s.

Works really well. Raised the front .5" yesterday cause I rubbed through the plastic fender lining. Only thing I want to change is get some LCAs and run a bit less rear camber. I'm at around -2 to -2.5 right now. I want to go down to about -1.

Ya i am running 1 degree in the back and 1.75 in the front!!

This weekend, we did an other layout then what i am use to do, and the 235 were hard to switch, i had to be very aggressive and the chance of spinning out were high..

Nontheless everything went well, and did some crazy 10 cars train plus followed my friend DMCC S13 450WHP and R32 Skyline 300WHP full caged car, with the FR-S

Will upload video later!!

You may want to retighten your e-brake.

I have done this because it was becoming loose, and hold up nicely the 2 days of drifting i intended!!

As of technique, it's always depending of the track. My home track when coming in the oval, i personnaly pull the e-brake, because i want to get up in the bak from the get go and if i clutch kick, i will have to initiate slower to have the good line.

brake drift is also pretty easy to do, but you need to be able to modulate the brake pedal.

I have no idea how can you guys run 45 PSI cold for drifting.. I like a lot of traction when i drift, on the verge of too much traction.. I ran this week end 28-30 psi cold on 205-215's and after put some stickier tire in 225 and bump it up to 35 cold.

Same here. I'm running about 32-34psi hot now from the last event and it was MUCH better. I was using different tires too though.

I'll probably stay with the same tire pressure. I still want to get some LCAs and ditch some of the rear camber.

Stock ride height is ugly and 90% of drifting is about looks. Only 10% matters how well you drive
