PSA Worst tires Ever
I've had these tires for awhile now and they are soo bad I felt compelled to say something. The tires are Hankook Ventus V2 Concept. In size 235/45/17. Stock wheels. These tires are so slippery in the wet that they are are almost unusable. Without TC they would be unusable. If the road is even slightly damp, it's like driving on ice. I can spin my tires in fifth gear no problem, anytime.
It used to be...My routine was...start the car, press and hold the SS button OFF until the TC OFF lights come on. Then go about my business. Not anymore. The other day there was no traffic around so I went into this on ramp with gusto. It was early in the morning and I didn't notice the road was damp. Luckily I didn't turn the TC off. It kicked in and saved me. Otherwise I may still be spinning. But then, on the other hand, the tires can be alot of fun as long as you keep the danger in mind. It's fun to give it some gas and try to keep the car straight with the tires spinning and the TC on. In fifth gear. |

I have never tried to install a set of Hankook tires on any of my cars but they do have a decent review online.

This is completely contrary to my experience with these tires, strange to hear such a negative review of them. What is the build date on them / what PSI are they filled to?

The date code is 3618 and the pressure is 32 psi. I've used Hankook tires before and they were OK. But this set is just unbelievably terrible. The tires I replaced were some cheap Chinese crap that were completely bald. I mean slicks. And the new Hankooks were as bad if not worse than the bald tires.
It really is unbelievable. |

Does it rain where they live?
And are they Ventus V2 Concepts? I just checked the Hankook web site and they don't even offer Ventus V2 Concepts anymore. I wonder why? |

I think I have these or something very similar on Mazda 2 up here in the Northeast.
Never noticed anything out of the ordinary. Acceleration isn't that great in the wet, but it is a FWD. Lateral and braking grip in the wet has never been an issue. |

Love my V2 hankooks! Got a square setup 245 on 18's. Sure the wet isn't the greatest but its a summer performance tire. Age, PSI, abnormal wear due to suspension/stance might be the issue.
I had a little too much camber on my previous setup and wore the inner tire right off. |

Interesting .. I personally just steer clear of all-seasons.
Googling Hankook Ventus V2 Concept, only the Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 comes up. strange. Curious, why 235/45/17 on stock wheels? Stocks are 215/45/17. I suspect running wider rubber on skinnier wheels will mess up your lateral traction and might even be dangerous?

I had these tires a few years ago and liked them a lot. Although I remember them being a bit noisy.
When was your most recent alignment?

Sometimes tires go "bad". Had a set of 2-year-old Michelin Pilot Super Sports and over a track season of garage storage in warm weather (while FD was on NT01s), they went from fine to NO grip in any conditions. You might see if Hankook will warranty them.

As far as the size goes, I swapped tires with my GTI the second day I had the car. For some Falken 235's. The Prius tires are still on the GTI. Too bad I couldn't just swap wheels. The lug pattern is the same but the hubs are different. |

The car has 182,000 miles on it and has never had an alignment. And it's on Proline springs. I've gone through at least 7 sets of tires and they always wear perfectly.
