I came from a 2007 BMW M Roadster. In many ways, it was an amazing car, but most of the time I couldn't enjoy it because I had to be so careful on the throttle. I hated selling it, but now I'm glad I did.

I heard a quote a while ago that sums up why I love the BRZ - "It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slowly."

I had a 700hp Supra.

Oh wait, no I still have it. And it's too slow.

Still prefer the 86 though.

The E85 is an amazing car, loved mine but the BRZ is more fun.

I'm going to be coming from a 06' Acura TSX. 205hp/164ftlbs. So technically more power on paper. But 3257lbs.

I think the BRZ is going to be an upgrade

I came from an 08 TSX 6spd. To be honest, the TSX felt quicker through the butt dyno. Probably because of more torque and vtec.

The 500lb difference still didn't make up for it? Mind giving some comparisons between the two cars too haha. It's rare to find someone who came from a 1st gen tsx. Also my tsx was an automatic so maybe that makes it a little slower too.

Btw was your tsx tuned in any way? Because my vtec didn't kick in until 6000rpm which I don't hit much so it was almost useless to me.

Had a 2011 ES350 w/ 270 HP... definitely more powerful and smooth as hell but the FRS is way more fun.

Probably most of us. What's your point...zzzzzz...
Glad the post was so boring you felt the need to comment...

My point is...if I hadn't been stupid and "known" that 200hp wasn't enough, I would have been coming directly from a 127hp Civic to the 200hp BRZ. I would probably have had zero complaints about the power at that point.

The late 90's TT Supra is still one of my dream cars. Maybe I'll win the one they are giving away at 80Eighty...I can dream...

I like that one too. My favorite I have heard specifically about the BRZ..."Performance because of its nature, not because of its quantity"...

I came from an EVO 8 pushing 334whp 341tq.

Before that I had the following:
300zx TT 455whp
350z (DE) Full bolt ons
1990 GSX 320whp
1987 300zx turbo with upgraded turbo and bolt ons
T67 Single Turbo 3000gt pushing 550whp and gutted to 2770lbs

Now I drive a 2016 WRX Base currently stage 1 pushing 260whp 297tq. I have plans to go stage 2 through maperformance which would put me at 330whp 340tq.

While I loved all of these cars my favorite were the 3000gt, Z32, and FR-S (in that order). The EVO and WRX were and are fast but they never truly felt like a sports car. They sit higher, are sedans, and don't give you the feeling like you're driving a sports car, but rather a very fast sedan. They have their benefits but lack in the raw driving experience.

I am one of the people that do wish the FR-S came turbo or had a slightly higher output engine. If the FR-S were able to produce 270hp from the factory, (and all the things that come along with that-such as warranty and reliability) like the old NSXs to me that would be THE PERFECT CAR.

- Started out with a 95' Honda Civic VX model back in high school and college. Manual transmission, 95HP model that was purely built for fuel economy. Most people don't even know about it but it got right at 50MPG on trips, even had a shift light to tell ya' when it was best to shift for fuel economy.

- In college, I landed a nice internship out in Mississippi. I saved as much as I could to finally get a 'real' performance vehicle. I had my sights set on the S2000, 350Z, E36 M3, and a Mazda Miata. I test drove the S, Miata, and the 350Z. Ultimately, I got the 350Z. It was a fun first RWD car that I honed my skills on and got lucky a few times when it ended up in the ditch. Learned to autocross and run the North GA mountains with it. I always liked the looks of the car, but the transmission was rough and as the OP mentioned, the engine sounded horrible above 5K RPM. My gosh, it sounded like a grenade preparing to detonate at redline. What a rough motor.

- Fast forward to 2012, I was planning on trading it in for an S2000 when my brother told me I might be interested in the FT86 platform. I put a $500 deposit on a WRB BRZ at a dealership in North GA. They informed me it would be a 6 month wait time in which case I said no thanks and waited another month or so. I then purchased the first BRZ that was sold on this forum as 'used'. The seller had 800 miles on it and claimed that his kids simply didn't like the back seat. Fast forward to today and 36,000 miles later, it's been a great ride these past few years. This car has seen Road Atlanta, Atlanta Motorsports Park, Carolina Motorsports Park, Tail of the Dragon, autocrosses, you name it. It's my daily and even carries around my 55" RC airplane.
I was looking at S2000's as well. I rode in a friends several years ago and loved it.

Unfotunately for me I'm 6'4", 245lbs, and without an adjustable steering column my legs were smashed by the steering wheel.
