You can use a Tire marking pen, or like you said... make a vinyl stencil and apply it over the tire and spray paint.

We can make vinyl stencils.
We did it for some of our cars...you can see below.

@Abflug, Does it come in paisley?
@Touge Factory, That's exactly the look i want. Only mine will likely be "Dunlop" or "Direzza" since i'll be running Star Specs.
@switchlanez, If it's that easy to come off, i can just reapply. I enjoy small, harmless car activities like that. I could just thoroughly clean the tire(s) then respray.

The front tires on the Black S13 are Dunlop Z1 Star specs.

Oh, i didn't notice that before.

So did you use a marker for your text? It looks better than a marker.

I PM'd them. They used standard white spray paint.

Look what I found

Awesome, thank you.

I'll have to see if i can have them eventually make me a nice "DIREZZA" stencil if they'd be so kind.

I'm surprised it's just standard white spray paint.

Wow... I really like the look... I am surprised! I might do this to my car. Post up when you have completed the painting and let's see how it turns out.

I think this look works best if you have black wheels and/or a dark colored car. If you have, say, a WRB car with silver wheels, then raised white lettering (known as RWL in tire jargon) might look a little busy. I could be wrong though.

How did you spray paint and not have it flake right off? What sort of prep did you do?

No real prep work, other then just wash the tires with soap and water.
We just used auto grade dupli-color. just off the shelf stuff.

Man, i started the project today and it's surprisingly difficult. I thought i could just photoshop the text, print it, cut it out, then spray over it onto the tire. Well, i couldn't cut accurately enough with an exacto-knife. So then i tried an outlined text which i could use scissors for-- but i'm spelling "ADVAN" and the spaces in the As wouldn't show up that way.

Then i was scratching my head. ..So i went to an art shop and found stencil letters i can use. So then i took some tough art paper(kind of plasticy) and cut a square into it so i could overlay that onto the stencil sheet because all the letters are on the same sheet, so that the spray paint would only show the letter in that square.

I spent hours and had to retire for the night because it got too dark and humid to paint after it rained a bit.

I have not had this much difficulty with any other project i've done to this car-- and that's saying something.

Nice found, but I'm wondering how this white letters would look after rain, sun and washing...

I am buying one of these for my classroom and I am sure it make a stencil in about 5 min. If you have a crafty wife tell her its a present for her.
