All those stupid lifestyle shit Subaru x STI is selling over in Japan these days ruined them. They really need to go back and just stick with making real performance car stuff.

LOL! Yes. I keep seeing SOOO many frs-brz variants... and none of them go ... faster :/

nor handle better.

nor look mildly normal to drive any time aside from a B level movie scene.

The most mod-friendly car made and no mods ever made for it.
Scion Tc had TRD supercharger, faster clutch, lower springs and dampers, all purchasable at time of sale in 2006.

They had an STI concept in 2012.......... THEY ALWAYS have an STI concept of every car. I think they had an STI forester.

NOthing is worse however, than Toyota slapping TRD on everything. You could get a 180 hp light duty pickup and it would have TRD on it.

I am sure the engineers and mechanics and computer programmers at Toyota Racing Development spent 100's of hours designing your $19,000 dollar bench cloth seated no options pick up.
If I never, ever again see a motor show video with a music soundtrack and no engineer/designer/product manager interviews describing what the car they actually have planned will be, that'll be ok with me

I can't tell from the video but there's nothing saying there is any performance differences so what exactly is Subaru even offering with a "STI Concept" model? It doesn't look like a concept it looks like what we already have but maybe I'm not seeing something everyone else is.
If anything, the car was just to have something at the booth. As mentioned, it looks like its just the PP car with STI aero kit, STI wheels, and some other aesthetic changes. Since there isn't any images or video showing under the hood or underside, it's unknown whether the car is equipped with the strut tower, v-bars, and the flexible draw stiffener.

It's just unknown whether STI has plans to make another tS for the BRZ, but those changes were pretty comprehensive, including uprated rear axles, new rear subframe, uprated bushings throughout, rear and front suspension changes, etc.

With the exception of forced induction application, all those parts are available for the BRZ from STI Japan. Clutch, Springs, Dampers, Strut Bars, Uprated Bushings, Rear Axles, etc.

You have to import them from international distributors from Japan. The parts are not offered officially through US dealerships yet because of how SoA is contracted with STi Japan. However thy may start releasing some of the parts as that is the whole point of their announcement about "reintroducing" themselves back to the US.

If you are interested all my sources are linked in my build thread for the STi parts.

So it's a dark silver BRZ with a lip kit?

Really though, all these years of talk about STI BRZs have been pretty dumb. If you want a wild BRZ, buy a BRZ and start warranty voiding.

I bought most of the STI handling bits plus other stuff early on few years back so the cost isn't as bad as now (especially with the tanked currency here in Canada).

The car handles a lot more enjoyably at least around the corners.

I think Subaru doesn't want to turn the BRZ into a threat to its flagship WRX STI. Toyota doesn't really have this problematic thinking with their TRD catalog in Japan as the offerings are vast.

I wonder if Subaru is broke as they've always been since the 1st gen Legacy development used up all of their money.

Lots of manufacturers are doing this now. You can now get a base BMW 320i with an M Sport package on it. It includes different wheels/tires, bumpers, steering wheel, etc. and they put an M badge EVERYWHERE! Pretty crazy that I can get a 33k BMW optioned out to nearly $65,000 (M3 pricing) between some options and M performance add ons.

Companies will keep doing it though. You know why? Cause people will actually pay it lol

I think it's just STi wanting to try different approaches with their projects, and looking at their lineup, they've got more money than theyve ever had, which is why you see STi variants of their cars: Levorg STi, BRZ tS, WRX S4 tS, hell the freaking XV HYBRID got a STi variant.

I think overall both companies are just too small in the big picture to offer these variants to wider public still. I mean, just look at the WRX STi. STi doesn't even offer its (what I consider) the actual STi version of that car in the form of the S207 here in the US.

Subaru use could make some more money if they offered more STI stuff here in the US. Rather than everyone scouring the internet for Japan sites.
