We are on the Trent River, part of the Trent Severn inland water system. Our street is only 2km’s long with a Cul-De-Sac at the end. Usually its local traffic and weekend lookers. Most of the houses are up scale and newer than ours. Some are older and there are some old cottages updated and converted into year round homes. The community has grown a lot in the 35 years we’ve lived here. People thought we were nuts moving this far out from where the wife and I worked but it was the stress relief we needed. We each had a multitude of routes we would take to get to and from our jobs. Whether we rode or drove, winter or summer it was always a fun relaxing trip.
I spent too much of my money on cars, bikes, racing and other hobbies and not enough on the house. Now I’m paying for it, quite literally. I should have posted the photos of our $38k new septic system. It had to be above ground to meet new codes.

Lines show lot approx. 100 wide by 140 deep.

Took on a small project today. The backdoor in our house has always been problematic because the afternoon sun comes straight into it onto our kitchen table, which we use for most meals, and also for family game times.

We've tried curtains, blinds and other solutions but they never worked well.

Found this that I think solved the problem. It's an ODL Add-on Blind. It is a mini-blind that comes with a frame of safety glass. It hangs over your current insert as a cap over the current molding. It is slightly bulkier but looks almost original.

It was much cheaper than replacing the entire insert, and took less than 20 minutes to hang.

Here are a couple of photos. Not sure how I managed to take them "Batman style". You can also pull the blind anywhere between the bottom and the top.

I looked into something like that, but seemed it would be too tight at the knob.

Actually they thought about that. There is an insert where the handle is that you can pull out. Then the flange piece for the handle goes underneath it. That gives you about two inches additional space.

I didn't need to do that, but I will say it changes the way we open the door since we have lever type handles rather than knobs. You can't really get your hand behind it so you just have work it with your fingers. Everyone pretty much adjusted right away.

EDIT: Here's the installation guide. See step one for the part I'm referring to.

After 35 years, 3 motors, deck, and handle repairs it was time to get a new mower.

Electric. No more checking the oil. No more making sure there's gas in a gas can. Just push the button and go. We have solar panels so the power is free.

Not to mention you can also hang it on the wall to store it.

I went electric too, so far so good.

My wife decided she wanted to paint the hutch in the family room. Since it was pulled out of its nook, I figured a good time to put a charging station in the middle. Put My electrician hat on. Looks pretty good. Good to get our charging station out of the kitchen. Wife did a good job painting. Cool color.
