Question pipe between muffler and resonator looks strange

The pipe between my muffler and resonator seems rusted on my 2016 FRS, but neither the muffler or the resonator seems to be rusting. This is strange considering that all three are connected, and that somehow the pipe in between these two things became selectively rusted.

Is this normal or is this a cause for concern? And if it's an issue, what caused it and what could I do about this?

Likely different grade of stainless made from a different vender for Subie with possibly different post treatment process. Nothing to be concerned about, it will last another 20 years.

Mine was all rusty as well.
Painted with black HT paint when I took apart for front pipe change.

I just double checked, the stock rear muffler is aluminized mild steel. That is why the flange is so rusty at the joint. The mid pipe is going to pick up corrosion from heat cycling with debris stuck to it, and galvanic corrosion from being in contact with the muffler section.

And stainless will corrode sooner if it is in contact with a ferrous metal(galvanic corrosion).
