Btw, I had to replace my Shorai battery. It was not holding it's charge for more than 10 hours. I constantly had it on the Shorai battery tender. It would stop charging once it reached a certain voltage which became less and less over time. Turns out one cell was dead so Shorai had to discard the battery because it could not be reconditioned.
Anyway, Shorai didn't have to honor the warranty because I was using it in a capacity that the battery wasn't necessarily intended for. But the tech (Shawn) understood and stated the battery was capable in my application and honored the warranty at 50% of MSRP. What I did wrong: In the beginning I would hook the battery up to the Shorai tender in store mode which is fine but because of the parasitic draw found in newer vehicles, I should have added a kill switch or disconnected the ground. I started to do that after the battery was already damaged. Also, I should have taken out the battery when storing for long periods of time during the Texas heat... my garage will get very hot... continued exposure to high heat zaps the batteries integrity and performance. So now I'll place the battery on the tender in the house. My 86 is not a daily driver so this will not be a problem for me. __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

I received some goodies today... Not sure when I'll get these in though. I'm planning on blasting the manifold and polishing it... that will have to come first as I will install everything together. I'm also working on some door pull straps for the interior...so that will eat into my free time.

Ok... so this is what I've been up to...
I have to install to see if my adjustment on the pull cord is good. Uninstalled, the mod works great. I've yet to modify the driver side. Also, I still have to make and upholster the cover... that should be the easy part. I did at least couple things different than what I saw on the net with this mod. One was that I kept the spring; and two, I used a keeper pin to anchor the pull cord on the spring side. Detailed write-up coming soon... __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

This may be a dumb question, but what's the benefit of using a pull cord vs. the regular handle for the door?

Btw, thanks to @Michael for sharing his mod pics with me... we went different routes but seeing his version's internals provided me some more insight on mine.
All the info I gathered led to (what seems will be) a successful end product! __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

I put a template together tonight... I may have this cut from a thin aluminum sheet so it can be damn near perfect...

Pull straps have been used to replace the heavy arm rest/pull handle in race cars and usually race versions of exotics. I have seen people use them for the unlock mechanism but I don't think that is accurate. More for looks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm not gonna lie, I really like the look of the red pull strap. I would buy a set if it wasn't $200+ and discontinued lol.

When I checked the prices on these... they were $325. I enjoyed the challenge of making this mod work out, I'm glad I took a crack at it! __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |
