Fitting an NT01 235/40/17 on a 17x7.5?

So the Nitto website states that the rim widths for the 235/40/17 NT01 are 8"-9", but I want to mount it on a 7.5. It'd be meaty as hell but it would work... Right?? I'm not quite an expert on this
Also, does anyone run NT01's for autocross or short sprints? I'm curious how well/quickly they get up to temp, these already have a few heat cycles in them as well

It will work. I've seen 235/40 federal rsrr on the stock 7" wheels.

I had nt01s in 235/40/17 on the stock wheels for a while. they worked but it had a lot of overhang. I just found those tires for really cheap so i couldnt pass up on them.

Can you tell me a little more about your experience running the Nitto NT-01 on the street? My car is set up as an extreme road toy and I've been pretty dead set on the Bridgestone RE-71R, but @CSG Mike had recommended the NT-01 for my application and you've now seconded it. I don't care about wet weather or cold temperature performance, noise, or wear, but I don't want a tire that requires much temperature to provide good performance on the street. The RE-71 is 'on' immediately, but @CSG Mike thought it may heat cycle out before it wears out. Based on your experience and my priorities, do you think the NT-01 is decent daily driver tire for a no-compromise highly modded warm weather extreme road toy?

Both of the above mentioned tires require heat to grip at their peak. If you think the RE71R is immediately grippy, you're in for a shock when you experience them warmed up.

Start slow and always give BOTH tires a few mi nutes to warm up when driving in a spirited manner.

If you want a shorter warmup time, use the Maxxis RC1.

Like mike said they both require a warm up for peak performance. Even when they are not fully warmed up I am very happy with them especially in the long sweeping high speed corners on the highway. I also find them to be very easy to drive with and they are forgiving in my experience. That being said I think they may be starting to heat cycle as the first bit of tread went really fast and now the last bit is taking much longer to wear. I don't drive them to the absolute limit anyways so for my DD they still work fine and provide more then enough grip for what I do. This year I might try the Pilot cup sport 2's as they seem promising for a street tire.

I can comment on Maxxis RC1 and Nittos NT01 as I ran them both last season, on the track only but it should apply to "spirited" driving as people call it. Maxxis RC1 will be on after half a lap, honestly they grip almost immediately. Nittos take maybe 2 laps, usually by the end of the second lap they are warm enough to start pushing, but their peak grip seemed to be by the 12 minute mark, so yeah, they get better and better. I corded the maxxis before heat cycling them, my fastest lap was actually on the session they corded. Nittos seem to be the same, I found they wear faster than the RC1.
