Yeah it appears you're right. I just found the photo buried in the Australian site too. They probably didn't realize there was a revision, rather than anything nefarious. I'll check Monday.

This car is not underpowered. People who think it is need to stop trying to race Mustangs red light to red light.
Must've got something to do with cold(er) tires then.
I've got PS4 on the stock wheels and it completely transformed the car. I even got traction on soaking wet roads where I used to slip easily before.

By the wording "Transformed the car", is it in a good way?

I mean, generally, it will always be nice to have more grip, but will that extra grip kill the fun this kind of car is supposed to deliver?

That's what I'm thinking... the JDM Prius tires may have been chosen specifically to just have the right amount of traction and the VSC/Track mode is tuned against that tire specifically ?

Well, I don't know about track mode, but VSC button on the 2016 with the prius tyres was TERRIBLE.

Any slight back movement and the tsc/esc would kick in violently. It was bad!

The PSS tires are amazing, but no tire is going to completely eliminate a loss of traction in the right circumstances. What they do is move the limit. I knew where the limit was on the stock tires, so I had to go find the limit on the PSS to avoid any surprises.

This car has ample power to exceed the limit with the PSSs when you want to, and although I haven't driven on PS4s, I seriously doubt they're so sticky that the car will roll over before it slides.

The Prius tires were selected specifically for the fuel economy of their low rolling resistance. I lost a full 5 mpg when I went to wider rims and the Pilot Super Sports.

The stock tires would let the back out whenever I cornered a little too quick on cold wet roads. I went to PSAS3 and that never happened again and is generally safer. The tail will still swing out readily on command so no fun was harmed in the process.

For me it kinda is. I feel more confident in wet situations (and I'm not talking about high speed, just normal daily driving).
It won't slide as willingly as the stock prius tires, as others have mentioned the grip limit is just pushed higher. in a straight line the PS4 grip really well whereas you could easily spin the stock tires at low revs/speeds.

Beautiful car! Enjoy!

But don't you think sidewalls of 235/40-18 tires on 18x9.5 rim look a little stretched? Did you consider 255/35-18?

They are slightly stretched... but not by much. I'll prob go 245s next... maybe 255. Getting coilovers in a week, so we'll see what kind of options there are. At the moment it's on stock shocks + STI pinks, so I didn't have a lot of options.

The rs3s were cheap too - $200 fitted and balanced... which in Australian money is cheapish.

Less rubber shows more of those awesome wheels though
