Yeah, I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there.

There are of course bad short shifters, but I like my JDM STI short shifter.
Stiffer bushings, more mechanical feedback when shifting gears, less spongy feel.
Too damn expensive for what it does, gotta admit.
I have it coupled with MTEC shifter springs.
I sat in my friend's bone stock BRZ the other day and was reminded how much I don't miss the stock feel.

You better throw the stock shifter in the trash then.

Lol wut?

I don't think I have ever once heard someone say short shifters suck.

Can you further elaborate on why you think they are God awful? Do you prefer to drive a manual 28 wheeler transmission?

My NB Miata, which still has the best feeling shifter of any car I've ever been in would disagree with you. Subaru and Toyota can only hope to recreate that mechanical machine gun shifter feel in a budget sports car.

Owned and daily drove an NA MX-5 from new in 1991 and for 22 years after, and agree i.e. if manual mechanical feel is what you’re after it was the best I ever experienced.
My 2017 BRZ is 8/10ths+ as good, not quite as precise but for reasons I still can’t quite articulate (even after almost 5 years of ownership) just as (if not more) satisfying a manual driving experience.

A couple reviewers have mentioned the the second generation's shifter feel has been improved. Let's hope that they've gotten it to Miata level.

If they even have it close then I will be in heaven. The 2 Miatas I have had were the best shifting cars of my life.

I have driven 2 of the first generation BRZs and didn't have any complaints about shifting either though.

I love the styling of the 2022 configurator and the lift back is the closest we'll get to a hatch or wagon. But, it gets pricey pretty fast and my wife will not be pleased if I spend more than $60k on the next car. For that kind of money, I think I lean towards the faster RS3 with the glorious 5-cyl. But, I'll also be looking at the Golf R and the new G70 3.3AWD, which looks to be a helluva value.

Horsepower is so cheap these days!

R U serius? 2022 BRZ: ~$33k CAD loaded. Base RS3: $65,600 CAD. Basically 2 for the price of 1.

You needed to improve your Miata's shifting with a short shifter?

My stock Miata shifter feels perfect.
Don't see where shortening the throw,
increasing the effort and changing the feel would make it better.

Stock Miata shifter is great, but the S2000 begs to differ on “the best ever made” or “perfect” accolades.

Pretty sure that’s a bot. Half the post doesn’t make sense. Liftback? 60k? What?

What's with bots coming on and having random conversations? Is that the new thing? Are they trying to look legit that way and then feeding the fake links after or is it just a way to troll??
