Best Scion service center in LA area?

Hi guys,

I'm having a host of transmission issues, the biggest being a major grind whenever I downshift from 6th to 5th at anywhere above 65 MPH. Lately, I've been noticing a weird grinding/whining noise when I shift from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th after the engine's been warmed up.

I've left my car with Bob Smith Toyota (in La Crescenta) twice, and they keep stating that they're unable to reproduce it.

I asked them to at least try changing the tranny fluid, as I've read in this forum that a lot of owners have seen HUGE amounts of metal flaking in the factory fluid. However, since they can't seem to reproduce the issue, they want to charge me $150 to do it.

Can anyone recommend a good service center, preferably in the Glendale/Pasadena/Los Angeles area? Hell, I'll even take a non-Toyota mechanic that'll just do a straight fluid swap for a decent price.

Thanks!

ill tell you this much if you are near orange county avoid toyota irvine at all costs. then avoid san clemente. then moving north avoid buena park. Im just crossing ones off the list after they treat me like shit and or stall my car.

Been having the exact same problem except its from 3rd to 4th or downshifting 5th to 4th. We're you able to make progress with dealer. I am worried about warranty issues since I have a cat back, CAI AND A UNICHIP. I can remove all bolt ons back to stock. I just wanted to know if it is necessary before bringing in to dealer. I purchased shifting springs as well as the PERRIN bushing kit for the trans. Any hopes of these helping the problem? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

if you are going in to warranty anything its always best to bring the car in 100% stock so they have no reason to bitch.

I haven't had time to check out another dealer but way too fast motorsports (poster above me) offered a good deal on an Amsoil fluid change. I'm gonna get that done and see if it helps. Also really interested to see how dirty the factory fluid will be when it's removed from my car (still on the tranny fluid that came from the factory, driven 13k miles).

thank you for the info. i ended up trading it in for a new monogram. and its been completely different. I put all the same bolt on and it ran so much better than my 2013 did I have no idea why there was such a dramatic difference between the two. hate to say it but i think my 2013 was a lemon. had problems with the trany engine idle and so on. not a single problem with the 2014 monogram
