If you have the CEL turned off for cat efficiency, your car will show "NOT READY" for those sensors. That will most likely fail you right there. Better bet is to drive around like crazy and hope the CEL isn't up on the dash

I'm staying near downtown.

Don't really know anyone here, so I'd be down for anything.

Heh, haven't done any timing yet. I'll be there Friday but that might be pretty much it for the year, my tires are really worn out.

I think it is after the first 7 years, then every 2 years after that.

Thanks, I can bring in the Perrin ones within a few days to a week depending when I am picking up in Ogdensburg. Perrin plate holder is $120, not on my site though. Feel free to call me at the shop 613-763-0011.

That's very interesting. The only CEL I get right now is because I have no TPMS sensors on my summer tires. Comes on after about 23 km's. I believe the O2 sensor has been by-passed because of the catless header on the car. I was thinking because the car still has one catalytic converter that by using the cleanest fuel possible I could squeak out a pass if no CEL's were present on the dash.

Unfortunately there are 2 O2 sensors in the car. It's the one closest to the header that will throw a cat efficiency CEL. There are a few people running catless without this tuned out, but I believe the car throws the CEL intermittently.....

Just confirming, you mean drop off in Barrhaven, correct?

Assuming yes, that should be no problem. I'm downtown, so it's just a quick detour south.

Err... it's typically the one *after* the cat that's responsible for detecting cat efficiency.

If the second O2 sensor is still present (and not removed completely) you could try using one or two drilled-out sparkplug defoulers to pull the second O2 sensor out of the exhaust stream enough that it will generate the kind of waveform (flat) the ECU is expecting to see.

I never said the pre-cat O2 was the one....but now that I look at the drawings, the post-cat O2 is closer

IIRC, you are allowed 1 "not ready" from the computer. If one O2 sensor is shut off in the tune, you should be ok. My Mustang has 4 O2 sensors (2 before and 2 after the cats), and in many tunes, the rear 2 are shut off. That would cause a fail with that car. I expected that with the Mustang, but got one for the EGR system instead...still passed. The type of fuel used won't have any bearing on the test results. They don't use the sniffer anymore...just plug a computer into the OBD port.
A check engine light would be an automatic fail. They wouldn't even bother to hook it up. Thankfully, the warning light for tire pressure is separate from the Check Engine Light.

I live in Barrhaven but was saying I could easily get a ride from say Ikea so you wouldn't have to go out of your way. But either way thanks for the lift and I will see you tomorrow night!
