Absolutely, but the fastest driver will always be hard on brakes!

While newbies can overuse brakes even without really going that fast, AFAIK for best laptimes one is always either accelerating or braking (with exception of course balancing throttle at curves or some specific track bits to not loose traction/stability), thus if one is not braking hard enough, one needs to brake earlier, less time left to accelerate, lower average speed. And if different drivers net similar lap times with different brake extent, i'd guess they all simply are not going at full car capability, just in different ways, with different mistakes. One is braking properly but loosing time one something else, other is underbraking, too easy, too early, but wins back elsewhere. Rest being same, with other variables eliminated, one that brakes properly using all tire grip, should be faster. And learning right brake points, treshold braking, brake release points, brake use for mass/grip transfer, braking using full tire grip and so on imho are among most important bits for driving fast. Not that other bits like throttle mastery, racing lines, car setup and so on doesn't matter, but despite it sounding a bit counterintuitive, one must master braking to go fast. Hence why brake setups that one can rely upon and which enhance braking control finese show it's real value in competitive field.

Currently running PFC 11s on the Cayman, and they're fine for me as a track pad and drive-to-and-from track, no real complaints on them...

IMO, not necessarily...

@ZDan I've heard nothing but good things about PFC. Unfortunately I don't think they make a rear pad for the PP BRZ .
@CSGDavid I'll give you guys a call tomorrow.

I have a used set of PFC08 (front/rear) that I tested that could use a new home...

Best course of action, those guys have a ton of experience on a wide variety of pads and can guide you to a good selection based on your wants/needs.
