Rays Gram Lights 57xtreme 18x8.5 +42 (Face 2)

Hey all! I've been searching for pictures of these wheels and have come across very few. In the wheel directory there has been talk of this specific size and offset but no dedicated post for them. 18x8.5 +42 (Face 2) I believe were made to have a similar concave face as the 18x9.5 +40. I am looking into getting these but are unsure of how concave the 8.5 Face 2 actually is compared to the 9.5s. If anyone has this setup or could lead me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated!

The 18x9.5 +40 is also face 2 so the concavity will be exactly the same. You can confirm this on the Rays website under the "Face Design" section. All the face 2s are the same except for offset/backspacing.

Thanks! Your post on that tread was the reason I started looking into this specific size and offset! I'm planning to stay stock suspension. What are your tire specs and is this picture with you still on stock suspension?

The lips stick out because the tire is undersized (aka stretched) for the wheel width (in this case 235 tire on a 9.5" wide wheel). You generally want to run 245 or larger for a 9.5" wheel to avoid stretch.

the lip does protrude a lot on these wheels. some don't mind a little lip sticking out, but it bugged the hell out of me cause it didn't look right. was about to sell mine till i experimented with a few tires and finally found a combination that ended up completely tucking the lip in. even a simple variation (tpc spec vs not) of the same tire size (255/35) on the same model (pilot super sport) made a HUGE difference in the fit of the wheel. (the tpc spec tucked the lip, the other didn't). can't stress this enough as it's caused me a ton of trouble.

Thanks, that's really good to know since I'll most likely be getting pss tires as well

They’re great wheels that are hubcentric, strong, affordable, with a fitment specifically for our cars - the only downside is that they’re just a little bit heavy. Here’s my setup consisting of RAYS Gramlights 57Xtreme 18" x 8.5" +42 wheels, Maxxis RC-1 235/40ZR18 tires, and MCS 1WNR single adjustable coilovers on Swift 8K springs all around:
