I had state farm for about 29 years. Our house was burgled in 2014. Our losses were about 45k, and they paid 14k. A month later I got a notice they were not renewing our homeowners policy.

They destroyed a sliding glass door, and 3 windows getting in. Biggest losses were wife's jewelry.

State farm is good as long as you never have a claim.

That is pretty much what I have heard from everyone that has had them.

Happy birthday! Yep, 31, you are ready for a couple of those shower stick em on handles so as you can hold on, then pull your legs up to your arms to wash off your feet. Word of caution, remember they are attached by suction, not bolted to the walls - don't ask me how I found that out -

Ohh those can get expensive pretty quickly.

My back is messed up. I tried to stop my fall with my left hand. My wrist and arm are majorly f'ed up. I don't think I broke anything, but man I hurt.I

Shit!!
UGH! I hear that! About a week ago I started down the outside steps off the 2 story deck and on the first step the gremlin under the steps pulled my legs out from under me - I landed on my back and bounced down to the bottom of the steps like a rag doll.

(yes, I've told a story like this before - but, THAT was a different fall on the same steps - )

I then stubbled back up the steps into the kitchen where my wife noticed that blood was dripping off my hand. Yep, she patched me up pretty good and sent me into the clinic the next day. The doctor had to put 12 stitches in my arm to stop the bleeding.

I hope you recover from your fall soon.

As a lifetime dieter it took a while for me to realize that all the programs, fads and strategies only work when you realize that the only thing that matters is calories in and calories out. Once I accepted that I got my weight under control and pretty much eat whatever I want, in moderation. I’m still too heavy but I don’t yo-yo any more

We had a break in decades ago now. At first the insurance company denied our claim because they found some minor errors in the paperwork. The agent’s secretary had just copied most of our old info over to our new policy when we moved from the city to the country. Because we live in the country it’s a volunteer fire department that covers our area. The policy said we had fire hydrants and lived within 5 kilometers of the fire house. Well we don’t have hydrants but we do have a huge river at our back door that the firemen would drop their main hose from the pumper truck in. Also, that fire house 5 kilometers away doesn’t serve us. The one that does is over 10 Kilometers away in the other direction. I had to hire a lawyer to write a nasty letter to them and explain that they’d already paid out on two claims without a problem. They agreed and came good except… They only paid the basic amount for jewelry. We lost of $21,000 and got $2000 back. They caught the little bastard that broke in. It was our next door neighbour’s kid! He had to pay back $3000 over three years. Oh and then the insurance company upped our premium and won’t let us out of contract. No other company would touch us because we’d had three claims in 5 years. What a joke!

New RANT!

Holy crap! I just got a three day kick from a Facebook page I’m on.
The Admin posted a photo of WWII P.O.W.s swimming in Lake Ontario at West Beach. It’s all to do with cottages being torn down and related to Camp #30 where the P.O.W.s were from. (Look up Camp #30 it’s very interesting.) Anyway, I disagreed somewhat with comments he made about Camp #30. Specifically that ”… during the time the facility was a POW camp no escapes were attempted.” Well he meant when the P.O.W.s were out of the camp on Ehrenwort (honour). I took it as from the camp compound itself of which there were many. I even mentioned several.
His reply was: I understand that you have a different opinion, but I respectfully disagree with your comment.
Then he respectfully boots my ass off the page while I’m composing a reply with this little notice.

What was their reasoning to only pay 14k?

3k + 2k does not equal 21k. I'd take their house as compensation but that's just me.
