Finally. Put deposit down Jan. 3rd on an allocation with VIN, original arrival dates were 1/18 -1/20. Arrived at dealer today, 3/30 after the QC hold. Picking it up this afternoon.

@justinco congrats! I can’t imagine the frustration of repeated trips to the dealership only to turn around. I’ve had a deposit since November and my white GR86 is scheduled to arrive this week, but based on your experience I’ll believe it when I see it. Trueno Blue was my first choice so I’m envious of you. Looking forward to the new content, congrats!

I haven't seen many colors in person. Heck, I haven't even seen a Neptune yet! But I did see a Trueno and it made me rethink my choice for Neptune for a second - congrats!

Congrats @justinco! Did you get it at MSRP? If so, which dealer in Phoenix?

Thanks!

Placed my order back on 1/9 with no updates besides it potentially being in the next allocation for the last two months. What’s weird is that I’ve received both my NASA membership sign-up and my notification about ToyotaCare for an assigned VIN. Has this happened to others who haven’t received even confirmation that their allocation has been filled?

Yep! Garage will be usable this weekend, so timing turned out ok in the end.

Some better pics from earlier, now for the break in period...

The planned production was sold. If the numbers are lower it is simply because they made less per their plan.
Mustang sales dropped by 40,000 units in the same period they must be getting ready to drop it!

Fun how so many make up some total bullshit to try to rationalize something they have no clue about.
The sales numbers where the final model years of the 1st gen sat on dealership floors for over a full year because they couldn't move them. So no, I wasn't "making up total bullshit" but thank you for your kind words I'm glad there are such nice people on this forum such as yourself. /s

For BRZ's, they take your deposit and the dealer orders a car then and there (if they can) after which you have a car assigned to you and which matches up with your deposit.
Some dealerships take deposits, some do not. The dealership I am working with doesn't take deposits on cars they don't have allocated so no deposit for me right now. They just write down what people are looking for and if they can get an allocation for it by submitting their preference request then they take a deposit once that comes through.

The dealerships taking deposits can't promise you a car. There's nothing inherently more guaranteed about your deposit at one dealership than your conversation with another. Now if you are less picky about which spec/color you want then you're far more likely to get a car from the dealership you're working with.

I want exactly one spec, one color and rather than put my name in at 100 different dealerships and leave it up to chance whether I end up at a price gouging one or an MSRP one I'm just sticking the dealership I trust and being patient. But holy crap it's a lot of patience. I never thought they'd be this hard to get and it's painful to watch people buy the spec I want and then resell it 1,000 miles later because they don't like the car or want a different color.

I was sticking with multiple dealerships that I "trusted", and yet ended up getting a car from a different dealership.
In fact, none of the dealerships that I "trusted" gave me any tips that a car I wanted is coming, even almost a month after a different dealership allocated a car for me.

If you want to get the car you want anytime soon, consider working with multiple dealerships.

Are there any production updates? Is subaru/toyota struggling with supply issues? Based on searches, the number of cars is dwindling. Will there be a shipment of cars? Wave of new allocations?

Well your references are clickbait's looking for a story where there wasn't one.
Let's not confuse sales numbers with production numbers. They planned what they would sell and they sold what they made. That is not poor sales it is good planning.

Even then taking just the BRZ out of context from the rest of the sales is meaningless.

When you look at everything else for 2018 the BRZ numbers are actually really good.
