Exclamation Really odd engine noise

It sounds like metal on metal maybe, or something of the sorts. I do know its not the engine itself, would it just be a really odd twist on the DI pump strangeness I wonder?

amplifying information, the noise goes away anything after 1k rpm, does not make this noise at cruise.

Can't listen because i'm in class, but how do you know it's not the engine? (especially given it's rpm dependent)

If it does it when cold, you could try taking the serpentine belt off and starting it for a few seconds, (no more than 40 for safety) that would isolate it to any pulley bearings/accessories or rule out any of them if it still does it. Plus you could spin the pulleys by hand and check for wobble, or rough or stiff rotation.

My apologies, I had forgotten to mention that it make the noise when warm. I will pull the serpent belt off to eliminate pullies for certain.

However the noise persists after the engine has been shut down for a few moments, as if relieving pressure.

I saw that on the video, I just thought it was something spinning down. That does sound like metal on metal, and if it keeps doing it after the crank is stopped, and only does it when it's warm, maybe it is the cooling fan(s).

Other than that, I have never heard a turbo bearing go out, but I would have to agree with FrsDuke, something that keeps spinning for a few seconds after the engine cuts off and is metal on metal = turbo.

I will check shaft play right now.

Turbo feels good. no evidence of it touching the compressor housing.
