Flex Fuel?
im kind of hoping that they make this car with a "flex fuel" type of thing.. theres an E85 station opening soon in my county and the idea of getting 102 octane for cheaper than gas prices with this car will be the coolest thing ever. also it will help with their plans of having a "green" sports car

My only thing with flex fuel is that until it becomes really populated your only going to be able to fill up in more populated area's, for my job we go on alot of TDY's and I will drive every time i get the chance, I would pretty much be screwed, forced to fly there and get a rental, or even just where im stationed at there's only one station and its about half an hour off base.
Its a great idea but till those stations become more common it will just be a pain in the ass |

one thing to keep in mind is if you run E85, your fuel economy will be DRASTICALLY reduced. so even though E85 is cheaper than gasoline, you need to consume much more of it. keep that in mind when determining what's the most financially rational fuel to use for your needs. it may end up being cheaper overall to purchase 100 octane for (what i assume to be) high boost applications.

Well think about it this way....
E85 cheaper than gas by a reasonable amount... Yeilds lower MPG than gas... Gas now yeilds better MPG but once again at a higher price. So it is as if they cancel eachother out...Now with the Direct injection, E-85 will/should yeild better MPG than modern flex fuel vehicles. So maybe the cost justifies the lower MPG. More fillups? Who cares if it is essentially the same price over a year long period to get you to work/week-ends/etc.... Now the fewer pumps part kinda sucks, which makes less MPG even more of a worry, but these pumps are popping up all over the place. So maybe in time it'll make sense. More power, Better engine temperatures, Same overall price... Now if the pumps are close enough (20 miles from eachother) this will make sense as long as you plan out your trips more often. Otherwise I will stick to Chevron with Techron |

and it's only more power if the ignition advance is knock-limited. sorry to be a debbie downer, i've just never been a big fan of ethanol. -Mike

Well if there is a F/I option I hope it can be FlexFuel! Flexfuel doesn't mean only E85, it just means its E85 ready
Forced Induction + E85 = no meth or water and higher boost pressures than 93 oct gasoline |

hmm, i suppose of they do make it flex fuel, those larger injectors and fuel pump will come in handy!! just figure out a way to tune the car to use more injector with gasoline and PRESTO, no need to upgrade the fuel system. good idea.

I thought Ethanol was a dead idea? Something about not being able to produce enough Corn to keep up with demand or something....
