Its OEM so you don't actually need to change those things yourself,
Brembo's are kind of THE brand for brakes (dunno if the brand has been diluted over the years though, they arent neccessarily the BEST brand for brakes) and SACHS...im guessing is just "better than OEM", much like Tien or whatever shock/strut brands are there.
Its all part marketing and part "better performing parts than Toyota/Subaru branded generic OEM parts bin" stuff.

This Trueno edition is kind of lame though. Basically getting the performance package with some initial D colour schemed livery....

At least with the 2019 TRD edition you got a bodykit and exhaust to go with the PP and throwback livery, and the 2020 Hakone cost the same as a regular GT (in fact it cost a tad bit less)

Yeah, I guess if changing the brakes were hard....my point was the quality/caliper you see on the OEM Brembo doesn't compare to a Brembo BBK you'd by from somewhere like CSG or the like.

And I guess the SACHS dampers matter if you're leaving the car stock. But I don't know, I've never driven on them to know if there is really an appreciable difference.

Oh boy, my thoughts

- The Trueno SE is super meh. I would have been good with the red one (my car and first choice of color by many miles was red) and I'd just remove the stickers but would have to get the duckbill painted red I'd guess. Unless it was wrapped. Don't care.

- The performance package is dealer installed on non-Trueno. WTF. So you will pay for your shitty brakes and econo dampers + all of the PP hardware, then be rolling the dice with the dealer installing it?

- Disappointed the PP brakes aren't the GR BBK with slotted rotors etc.

- My initial dissatisfaction with lack of advanced safety crap for GR86 was that AT gets auto high beams (these are awesome to have where I live) but now that I've become accustomed to the system in my Corolla, I really appreciate all the stuff. Cue news that Subaru is FINALLY pairing eyesight with MT and boom, this! + PP! I'm trading in!

Wait, PP is dealer installed and ... NO AUTO HIGH BEAMS ON MT W/EYESIGHT! REALLY!?!

All Toyota GR86 models come standard with an Active Safety Suite. On Automatic Transmission models this suite includes Pre-Collision Braking System, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, Lane Departure Warning with Sway Warning and Automatic High Beams. Manual Transmission models include Pre-Collision Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, and Rear Sonar Warning. An anti-theft system with engine immobilizer and alarm are also standard.
Ok, keeping my car now

It should at least come with a USB loaded with all the Eurobeat tracks from the show.

Missed chance to call it “Takumi Edition”.

I LOVE my car but seriously... chill. He's getting worked up over stickers and functional vents the previous two year models already had.

Brembos, which in reality won't be much better than a solid pad swap rotor swap fluid swap, and a bunch of black accents that look like you gave a highschooler a roll of black vinyl.

Hard pass. Especially knowing these will cost MORE than the ASE, which we've already seen sold around $40k.

I am glad they addressed the problem with the brakes. That was the only thing I would have modified on the car my deal went through. I still will have to replace the pads on the car I bought in place of the GR86 though so I am still in the same boat.

What is the problem with the brakes exactly?

toyota's really leaning hard into odd parts of history.

for example, they've got trueno versions here, but no back-to-the-future tacoma's...

I realize that there might not be enough contrast wit the vinyl stripes (perhaps a good thing?), but what amazes me is you cannot get a Trueno edition in Trueno blue...

i dont think people actually recognize a taco as a back-to-the-future car....the delorean took all that luster.

Its like Fast And Furious (before they went all superhero) is basically Dom's Charger, the Supra, and Brians GTR. No one cares about the other cars.

but damn near everyone knows that initial D is part of the 86 heritage

Nothing, especially for a street car.

Just fine on a track with a pad/fluid swap.

Definitely recognize the taco.

I knew what all those were before that terrible movies series started, likely from growing up around race cars and all the great magazines of the time.

I didn't know what Initial D was until long after I bought my first gen BRZ in Oct of 2014.

Your last 2 statements certainly explain the overt lack of knowledge seen on social media though.
