There's things that I like about it:
White leather interior accents 86 Phone Holder Center Gauges 19" Rims w/ 86 emblems Oddly enough the only thing that doesn't do anything for me is the drop top. I doubt we would see this in the US market either. I feel like the folks at Toyota are plotting "how can we make everyone who already bough an 86 feel terrible afterwords..." I'm sensing an armrest in our future. |

Why no pics with the roof up? The only explanation I see is that even Toyota thinks it looks ugly and doesn't want to ruin the first impression.

You know that the normal coupe is still going to be produced right? If you think that a convertible hurts the 'image' of the car then you care too much about what others think... (and in the end it probably won't even affect the 'image'; ask anyone about the 350Z or S13 in general and the convertible won't even be mentioned). That and it isn't like it's going to convince the car's detractors that feel that it isn't anything special. Nothing short of a tarted up model a la STI/TRD can change that. End of the day, your car is your car. It ends up being what YOU make of it, not others. I don't see anything wrong with the convertible option. (well aside from the disgusting yellow carpet and the wheels that are a size too big, but this is just a concept) It just gives buyers more options. How can that be a bad thing?

For Those jumping the gun here keep in mind the name.
They're calling it FT-86 Open and on top of that, it is a Concept. so all that said, I don't expect the interior to make it to the production model or even the 19''s, Remember when the 86 was officially announced in Tokyo and it had wheels that never made it to the production models? So I figure Toyota is testing the waters with alot of these drastic changes to see how the average buyer reacts. i mean it hasn't even been shown with it's top up yet. also for those of you complaining that they're even making convertible. correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the car designed to be a convertible from the get-go? Now as for how I feel about it I must say I don't like the yellow carpets, the white interior bits, the giant wheels, but I don't think it look horrible. Upon closer inspection i realized why it sort of appealed to me, it's white with a navy interior which reminds me of the MK III supra which hold a special place in my heart. I'm not a convertible fan (i love the sound of rain hitting the roof of your car when you're parked), but I can definitely see it's appeal. and before I forget, Phone holder is N-I-C-E~

Well that's easily the worst interior color combination of all time. White leather? What is this, the 1980s? And add in an almost purpleish blue with baby food orange? Yikes.

The seats and the cell holder is a def want for the hardtop. I liked the wheels before but they are way too massive. Overall, isn't as a bad but not my style.

Reminds me of my S2000. I wonder how Honda would have done if they offered a hardtop version.
