Words cannot describe the difference in steering response I got after the alignment. It must have been really off. The car feels several magnitudes better in terms of steering response. Handling inspirers so much more confidence with the Ohlins.

I took the car out for a spirited drive through some canyon roads. Car feels sublime! I could not ask for more. Very refined ride with buttoned down feel, even when pushed hard.

This is where I experienced the mild rub, when the car got unsettled on a hard turn, causing hard compression. Both fronts and rears had this. Front can be cured by adding negative camber, but the rears would need stiffer springs, increased ride height, or just narrower tires. My thought is that 225/40r18 tires may be the answer with my wheels.

Edit: all nice track tires do not come in 245/35r18 anyway. All of the track tires come in 225/40R18
what are the rates on the ohlins?

This is 17x9 ET42 wheels with 245/40/17 Hankook RS4. Keep in mind I didnt drive with them yet, its winter here but I wanted to test fit anyway. Mild drop on RCE SS1 coilovers. I will adjust ride height/camber/alignment in a couple of weeks. 17x9 won't clear the front stock strut, it needs coilovers or spacers/studs combo. I will take better picture of the whole car when I can but right now, way too much snow, I won't be able to get back inside the garage with those tires

This is awesome, thank you so much for sharing these!
Any chance you can drive one of the rear wheels on a ramp to see how close the tire gets to the fender when the suspension is compressed?

Is that too far out to allow the tire to tuck on either axle?

Oh baby, that looks nice. Pretty close to the amount of poke I'm expecting on 18x8 +35. I can't freaking wait. I love the tire meat extending down from the rear fender.

Is the front of the 2nd gen equivalent to the first gen with “performance package / TRD Sachs struts”? In other words, are spacers required to clear the stock suspension (hardware, ride height, and camber) when running 17”x9” ET+42mm wheels?

The fitment guide from Apex https://support.apexraceparts.com/hc...-Fitment-Guide

You need spacers, I tried it before installing the coilovers, the wheel hits the strut.

I just bought a set of those wheels a couple days ago, so I'm glad someone has a car with them actually on now. A little concerned since I'm on stock struts up front. How much of a spacer do you think would be required to clear the stock front strut? I have some 3mm ones left over from my 2016 when I was running Enkei RPF1 17x9 ET45.

I would go 10mm spacers to be safe, I'd be surprised if 3mm is enough.

Thanks a lot for the info and pictures.

This is going to push back my schedule for new wheels and tires since I'll have to save for coilovers too. But I am very glad I know that ahead of time instead of finding out the hard way.

I guess the upside is how decent the grip is on the new stock PS4 set. It would be so much worse if I were stuck on primacies while I try to save my pennies.

Hmmm.

My 18x8.5 +48 fit on the first gen, albeit with only about 1* of camber on the front and only cleared by about 3-4 mm.

Since I'll be running winters on the stock wheels once my car gets it's not an immediate issue.

2 questions. 1) Did you put spacers on the front when fitting these wheels or do they sit that flush by themselves. 2) Is it the wheel itself or the tire that hits the stock front strut?
