That may be your anecdotal experience. It has not been mine.
The new CR1's last season were just a tiny fraction behind A052s of equal use for the testing between myself and another STX friend, and multiple same day back to back testing with our resident STS alien.
in 'ST' autocross, I'd take the CR1 over the 660 any day.

The 660’s do really poorly in the heat during lapping sessions.

Dunno. Haven’t run those.

With the 660’s sunny and 80f I was hating them after a few laps. 80f and cloudy they were great.

Requiring a cooldown after pushing hard for a few laps is like not even worth mentioning for 200TW tires, they are almost all like that. Buy Toyo RR, Nitto NT01, Maxxis RC1, or Hankook RS4 if you want more heat resistance and longer life over a second or two.

Whatever tire you decide on I’d run your current camber settings for a day and check the temps in the 3 places after each run. That will tell you what you need to do. If you need to mess with camber get camber plates. It makes life easier and if you need more camber that is the way to go.

already have camber plates but they are maxed out.

I am chasing sub 2's at Buttonwillow which is pretty hard to do NA on our cars(I need more seat time) but only the best drivers can pull this off in our cars.

I couldn't tell you how well the CR-1s hold up as for that part of my season I was limited to ~5 laps per session. I do think they're probably a few ticks behind the A052s in terms of outright fast lap times, *but* where the A052s feel delicate and don't like to be overdriven, the CR-1s seem to really hang in there with a ton of residual grip when driven hard, overcook a corner and you can still crank in steering and make the apex. Within first few laps anyway! Ultimate grip felt similar to the A052s, but they're so much heavier, I think that's why they're ultimately a bit slower on low-power cars like ours...
