fiberglass insulation is generally better, with some obvious physical differences that can be significant negatives.

i can't find the charts anymore, but there were a few studies in audio forums about it.

the entire concept of insulation in an audio sense is that it coverts movement into low level heat. by doing so, it slows air movement within the space, which is the fundamental part of how insulation makes a small box sound bigger.

fiberglass is a better conversion medium, but it's itchy to handle, and not great to breathe. polyfil is supposed to be a synthetic, healthier, and easier to work with medium that performs the same task. but because it doesn't convert the same, it's main advantage is for ported enclosures so you don't have to be breathing fiberglass strands.

Also a smaller box as I now can just barely bring groceries home. I'd like a custom one that tucks into the passenger rear corner without protruding. Like the MTX thunderform that's discontinued. But I'm not ready to spend money on that yet.

don't look at max wattage. companies lie. compare rms wattage. it's a little harder to lie about, and provides more equal footing. i suspect that it's not as far off as you're thinking.

the only 2 custom-formed boxes i'm aware of anymore are the jl audio stealthbox, and the oem+ subwoofer--which doesn't come separately from the very expensive package...

Did you install this yourself? My fender fin garnish is fading. Auto body paint shop quoted me $500 to repaint only one side! Where did you order those from?

Re:all - a seller (from Florida) on the 86 marketplace group on FB somehow had them sitting in his closet for three years... the zip ties, adhesive coverings were all intact. Basically BNIB. It was the craziest find I've come across in a long time. I think the seller was collecting JDM parts for his own build but life got in the way.

Re: 86geek - your OEM garnishes? For 500 bucks you are better off ordering TRD Paintmatched Garnishes for about 300-400 landed from importers. If you are C7P (FRS with 86 piston badge) if you pay for shipping I'll ship you mine in mint condition for free.

OK, but that a long way to come get a beer if you win!

While I know the rumores are swinging back around to it being N/A, I think they are going to stick that FA24 turbo in there and be done with it, I don't see them wanting to redesign that engine to rev higher and under NA, whilst keeping within emissions/future emissions.

Do you think they'd rather re-design the chassis to have that low slung turbo somehow not dragging on the ground?

The RMS on the amp is 200W @ 4ohm x 2, max 500W @ 2ohm x 2, bridge 1000W @ 4ohm. Doesn't say the RMS at 2ohm, so I'm not sure. It's a BOSS Phantom PH2.500. It sounds great, honestly, but I really think my issue is that I have the OEM head, the touchscreen, but only at basic level function, and it's just not . . . bright enough or able to effectively control the sub. Ultimately I want to upgrade to a 2.0 steering wheel with radio controls and an aftermarket head with Android radio, but I'm also particular so I want to find a 200mm unit, which seems to have very limited choices. But honestly I haven't studied up on the OEM system, so maybe it just needs more power.

From the reviews, I won't be happy with the OEM+ unit and it's ridiculously expensive. That JL Audio stealthbox is nice, but where do I mount an amp? I'll probably have to find a fiberglass shop and have onw made to spec. Probably cost less using my speaker and buying a better mono amp for it.

Enjoy those. Those are extremely hard to come by. How much did you get them for (in terms of USD)?
