Great weekend at Chuckwalla. Lowered our lap record to a 1:56.7 in 80° heat. The Blub was flawless. Ran 4.7hrs total track time.
I love my team!

Suck to hear about the wheels. I was looking to get a set since they are cheap and can customize but looks like they don't hold up on the track.

Should have learned my lesson. Burned through 7 of them on our GT350 just about as quickly. Anxious to get our forged CNC wheels going. Still many months away though.

August 2021 update.

We somehow managed to kill the throwout bearing at Chuckwalla. Hasn't been driven since. While we were in there we decided to swap the OEM two piece driveshaft for a DSS aluminum. 23.9 vs 12.8 lbs. Also swapping in a Verus forged shift fork.

If you figure out a way to get the DSS shaft to stop vibrating at around 105mph let us know please.

If it vibrates, we will send it back.

We have been using DSS driveshafts and halfshafts on our shop and race cars for years without issue. Always a first time for everything though.
This shaft has balance weights on it, as they all do.

Blub needs brake ducts but we couldn't find a path for a 3" hose. Heads are basically in the way. So we just stuck a simple deflector on each LCA. Not pretty but they should help. Many OEM cars have simple deflectors for brake cooling. We're running G-Loc R18 front, R12 rear with the 12.88" Wilwood Superlite kit on all 4 wheels.

Have you guys run Blub on the new Maxxis RC1 R2 compound? If not, have you run it on anything else yet? What are your thoughts?

Sonny and I have run 255/40/17 RC1 S2 compound a few times. Not much to say. A bit more grip than S1, last about the same, same feel. We didn't doing any controlled testing on them so its all anecdotal. We have run a few other tires. Only thing that stands out in my mind is that we were surprised at how little A052's fall off even after like 15 heat cycles. Most fast tires fall off more after 5-8 cycles.

What are you trying to determine or decide on?

I used the Porsche suspension arm mounted brake ducts, found them on this forum. Been happy with them and I think I only drilled one extra hole to get another ziptie on it.

Your results may vary, mines a commuter, not a racecar.

These for reference.

Very slick deflector. I like that its curved, a scoop.

Meanwhile, we added a solid state master cutoff from Cartek. Our guess is that it would fry the ECU if we used it with the car running. So we only ever touch it when the key is out of ignition.

We could never track down the source of voltage drain in the car and it kept killing batteries. It is sometimes parked in the shop for a month or two at a time without being started and we didn't want to have to keep it on a trickle charger.

Thanks for the helpful insight. Basically I'm looking for a 2nd set of tires that I can use for HPDE's where I'm not limited to running something 200 TW and above. I'd like to keep my A052's fresh for time trials. The requirements I'm looking for are (in order of importance):

1. Pace on par or quicker than the fastest super 200's
2. Greater heat endurance than the super 200's (I'd like to complete a 20 minute session without major falloff)
3. Decent wear rate (Something in-between RE71R and RS4 would be great)
4. Reasonable cost (no sticker ho-ho's unfortunately)

It sounds like the RC1S2 could fit that bill well. What do you think?

Those are great questions and a good subject for a new thread. Post a link to the new thread here so we can all chime in. That way other people with the same type of question can find it.
