It is such a stark contrast to how I, or most of my friends were raised. I wonder what will happen when he discovers alcohol, or uh, "adult ballets."

This is all I can think about.

They had no idea there were other religions and that was the last time they got to stay at my aunt and uncle's house(their grandparents) for more than 3-4 hours at a time.

Honestly, I can sort of understand in a way. If it wasn't because a special set of circumstances that made me come back to the U.S after living in Honduras for 12 years (3yo-15yo) I would've been a completely different person. My mother was very over-protective and never allowed us to go out, which was well-founded, crime in Honduras is very real, among other things that I never got to experience. But the only way to prepare yourself against the world is by actually living in it and experience it. The culture shock for me from what a teenager can do in Honduras vs USA was a rude awakening in a way, plus the fact that I no longer was living with my family, but relatives instead, and we have a saying that goes "The dead, after 3 days, start stinking" which can kind of tell you how my relationship living with relatives went.

But I did learn how to be independent, defend myself, think outside the box, look at the bright side of things.

Whenever I visited Honduras to see my family after a year or so, my expectations didn't quite matched my parents, but they learned to adjust to what I now expected to be normal and fair. I suggested they did the same with my siblings, but the results have been different, as it was a little too late. So I've had to mentor them in a way, in their mid 20s. With them just recently now living in a country completely different than Honduras.

And I could be wrong, but I didn't think the floor heaters were ment to heat a room, just make it so the floor isn't cold on your little toes when you go take a leak in the middle of the night. Kinda silly, like my towel heater we never use.

I have an uncle in KY whose house is heated exclusively by floor heaters, so it may depend on what type it is. No idea what his electric bill is, but it's a relatively small house (probably under 2,000ft).

My uncle's house is this way. All the floors are stained and polished concrete and it is heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. It is quite nice.

Came down to Longview on I5 midweek and cut over from there.
Put out the itinerary for Sunday but didn't hear from you.
Wound up going through Naselle and Raymond to get home and avoid I5 on the way back.

One of my kite boxes leaked sand all over the back seat and console.
Waiting for a dry day to bust out the vacuum. Grr. Wasn't paying attention.

There could be something dangerous inside and he isn't allowed to use scissors or a knife because they are dangerous. He's 20.
20 what - months?

Electricity in the FLOOR around a toilet? But, what about when you are peeing and dribble all around the toilet? Wouldn't that be dangerous?

They're for the whole room but must be implemented properly to do so. There's no way to effectively insulate the concrete from the heat source without raising the floor. That's why the thermal resistance for the thin underlayment is not published. The few that do publish clearly show the issue. They'll sell you all the stuff but no one comes right out and says "It's a stupid idea to install this over a non-insulated concrete floor."

Caveat emptor!

I'm sure there is all different types.

Every school I went to from k to 12 was floor heat. Water pipes in the concrete floor with a boiler room.
