Just something I've read in my research so far.

Can you do me a solid and measure the face of the HU? My cars opening is 8" wide by 4" tall.

Standard double DIN is 7"x4" so your 8" wide opening (~200mm) should fit this radio

Well, if you compare specs, sound processor looks exactly the same...

Got this unit in over the in the last week. It's running with an OEM Audio Reference CF System. Also put on the Kenwood CMOS-130 reverse cam that came with the HU.

Love how integrated and sleek the unit looks.

It's great having Android Auto and getting the voice prompts warning me about speed cameras. The EQ and balance tuning is also superb. Has anyone tried Viper4Android with this unit? I might have a playaround this week.

Where did you get the new one from? Same wiring works as the 917?

Got it from New Zealand. Wiring harness is exactly the same.

I want to make android auto users aware that android 8.0 caused the software to completely break for me.

I have an LG G6, and on android 8.0 it was impossible to establish a connection to my car regardless of the cables I used (original or "certified" cables). I have since had to downgrade and recover my phone to a 7.X android OS and everything is working fine again.

During my research for a fix this seems to be fairly common on a number of phones that have gone to 8.0. This has been a known issue since December 2017 when 8.0 started rolling out but there wasn't a fix yet for my phone. Android 8.1 fixed the issues on some devices, but that update isn't available for phone yet. Lucky me the Canadian version of my phone is not able to be flashed with custom roms so my only option was to downgrade entirely.

Oddly enough, 8.0 is supposed to enable wireless android auto for compatible head units (not applicable to DDX917WS or DDX918WS to my knowledge).

Just a heads up to check before you update your phones!

Installed the DDX918ws in my 2017 BRZ and everything works great except the backup camera. It works after like, 5 minutes of the car being on. The reverse interrupt works but it displays a black screen until the camera decides to work. After that it works fine any subsequent time. Anyone got any idea as to why?

I don't have an answer for you but can you fill me in on the extra parts you needed to make this work?

Honestly I ordered this: https://carboncarsystems.com.au/shop...17-subaru-brz/

It worked just fine with the backup camera with my other Kenwood unit before I swapped to the 918ws which makes me worried I blew a fuse.

If you don't want to order that cable then everything you need is included in the box except the cable you need to step the voltage of the camera down from 12v to 6v. The cable is linked previously in this thread somewhere.

Vanilla, those cables are not 100%, I have gone through two - the second having the same problem as you described, the first not at all. A bit disappointing, but at least they make everything else really easy.

Grab a 12v-6v voltage dropper and hard wire it in, it's what I did and it works great now. Bonus being that I can then change the headset to reverse camera display at anytime.

This is the one I used; i'm sure you can find something similiar in Dublin https://www.jaycar.com.au/dc-to-dc-s...odule/p/AA0237
