Does a round have a right side up and an up side down ...... how could it ...... it's round ......

Especially, with a MG that is designed with a dual feed system and fires from a disintegrating link belt.

I figure you meant that the soldier tried to load the belt (round) in "backwards" .......

Yes, all of our granddaughters are back in Saint Louis on vacation ....... so I've had a lot of free time on my hands today ........

Now that I get what he meant by upside down he is correct. The clips are open on the bottom (like all) and it only feeds from one direction so technically it would be "upside down" if you tried to feed the wrong end of belt. I would have used the term backwards but that would probably be just as confusing.

Ahhh......haaaa.......I see .... I think.

Sorry there, @Cole , my bad, I reckon a disintegrating link belt may be (at least tried to be) inserted into a MG the wrong side up.

I honestly don't remember, with the .50 cal MG that sat on top of my track.

Maybe that's the reason my TC always loaded it for me......

YES, they let me have live ammunition ....... once ....... after the motor pool welded aiming stakes on the turret.......

Yep. The head designer. It was deemed pilot error. Little doubt this crash was as well.

Yeah it's a fun sporty little plane, but at the end of the day it's still a plane... There's old pilots and bold pilots, but there are no old, bold pilots. I still kinda want one as a retirement gift to myself in like 70 years when I can afford one.
