I usually go through a tank in the am session and refill at lunch before using another tank in the pm session. It looks like a 25l fuel container for trackdays might be a good idea so I can keep it topped up.
I ussually have about 20 gallons + a full tank when going to track days/weekends. But e85 is inconsistent and not available in close proximity to many tracks.

The only thing you'd hurt by going to the XP12, is possibly overbraking yourself, but it's better to have too much pad, than not enough, as you've already learned.

With an advanced driver, you can still not have enough pad with the XP12. If you find yourself at that point, the real solution is a BBK.

The RE71R is a really, REALLY sticky tire, so it's easy to overheat the brakes, as you're stopping harder and faster with those tires.
Makes sense, thanks.

Mike, considering I killed half of my XP10s in 4 hours of track time and destroyed the stock caliper dust boots and I was on stock tires...

I'm assuming you're going to strongly suggest a BBK since I have RE-71Rs and a proper alignment now (no more grating understeer that prevents me from getting on the power early) I did add the GT3 brake air guide things, but I doubt they're going to be anywhere near effective enough.

I was debating XP12s with Ti shims to protect the calipers because I don't really want to spend the money on a BBK this year, but I'm worried that'll be nowhere near good enough. I still have the stock wheels/tires I can use for track days and might do that anyway. I have ~20 hours of track time planned this year (split up between Shenandoah, Putnam Park & VIR) and a bunch of autocross.

The AP kit would set me back ~$2600 or so all said and done, or an RR kit for about half that (one piece rotors) but I don't know anybody REALLY fast that's using them besides Element Tuning.

Guess I'm just asking for confirmation that I should man up and get a BBK like you said here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...postcount=3167

Try the XP12 first. 4 hours on XP10 for half the pad is actually not bad in terms of wear.

Shipping should be free if you order front/rear XP12 off of the CSG website.

Just take the outer dust boots out, and don't use the shims.

Ok, that sounds like it'll work. If the XP12s don't work well enough next time I'm on Shenandoah I have time before I do Putnam Park (not too worried about there though, doesn't seem braking heavy) and plenty of time before VIR or back to Shenandoah.

I do really want a BBK though

I need a new battery. Should I just get a replacement or go for a lightweight one.

I usually just weekend drive my car so it sits 4-5 days at s time and parked maybe 4 months over winter.

I don't mind to buy a tender and remove the battery over winter. But i dont want to have to every week.

Seat Mounts

I'm taking the plunge and going full race car with my FR-S, but I've run into a small issue. I got a new Sparco Circuit II seat and with the supplied Sparco floor mounts the seat is too high up and I am going to have clearance issues, especially with a helmet and a roll cage.

I've seen some people go with Buddy Club seat rails to lower the seat, but I'm not sure they are up to the task of doing wheel to wheel racing safety wise. I know some people have them re-welded to make them stronger, which is an option I'm considering, but I'm wondering if there is a better option out there for something to lower the seat while being strong enough to rely on in wheel to wheel racing.

Thanks!

I would go for the light one. If you drive every weekend it gonna be fine. With a tender it's just perfect.

I have been using them for a few years now, works fine. (Odissey)

I'll try a low cost Lithium one with the 86.

Please post your results in your build thread. A buddy and I have been going back and forth about lightweight batteries lately. Buddy wants to get something different than Odyssey this time around and they only other experience I have is with AntiGravity.

Yep sure. I'll probably try Shido. We find it locally on Amazon.

Thanks for the tip. I had never heard of Shido. Time to do some research

In the US Braille is the way to go I guess. Anthony is very happy with his 3lbs battery.

I've used Braille in my Honda days with good results as well.
