I live in NE and I'm thinking about getting a car cover for the winter. Anyone got any recommendations on brands or the type to get?

I don't have any recommendations but I do want to mention something to be aware of. You might already be but if you're not: Think of what would happen to your paint, over time, if you wiped it down once a day with a dry towel. Any movement of the cover because of a breeze will cause the fabric of the cover to slightly rub against your paint. Your high, pointed parts of body panels will wear the fastest. I'm inclined to think there would be less damage, in the long run, if you didn't cover it and just made it a point to keep it clean.

I think a portable car port would become too difficult and awkward to use. Keep in mind that snow by itself doesn't do any abrasive harm to your paint. Of course driving a car in the rust belt is a different story. (I used to live in Michigan)

Covers work. A good cover has a soft lining that will not harm the paint. UV protection is the most important thing a cover provides.
These guys list a cover for the Scion FR-s, and will make it from the material that you select, with a wide range of prices. http://www.supercarcovers.com/coverk...?pf=3&dl=AJU92 I always kept a cover on my motorcycles, and sometimes some covers will cause the kind of scuffs that one poster warns about, but they are easily polished out with some glazing compound. |

Also... don't forget that a cover will rapidly influence moisture buildup outside and inside of the vehicle.
Where there's moisture, there will be ugly green/brown mold... Should of seen my AE86 over the winter few years ago...

I also want to cover my baby when the weather gets bad.. Its not practical in the snow so, my Honda Ridgeline will remain my everyday driver. Covers work.. Car collectors the world over all cover their cars for a reason.

Hey RedRocket, which Baltimore dealer did you buy your car from? Mine is from Russel Scion in Catonsville, and it should be in within the week.

I went to Russel they upgraded the Audio, and Tacked on The 5AD kit and tried to charge an extra $7000 for the car. I promptly left they disguist me.. They were rude as hell to me. I'm 31 and look 25ish. I make 90k a year, and my credit score is almost 800. They acted like I couldn't afford the car anyway when I told them, I would not pay 6000 bucks for a 1600 dollar body kit.. I would pay retail for the kit, and thats all... IF you haven't already given them money, Go see Jerry's.. I was so impressed.. I worked as a sales person for Toyota about 12 years ago so I'm not nieve in how the car deal works (Scions different I know). Their just decent people.. My family will only buy from these guys from here on out.. My wife wants a Venza soon.. I'll be going back. |

If you can't afford accommodations with a garage, probably shouldn't be dropping three bills on a car cover.

Thats a Rather Pompus statment. Maybe people dont feel like moving their Lexus, and Acura out of the Garage for a 25,000 sports car, but still dont want any needed UV damage to the paint.
