What you need is something like this. Then you can buy material stock like G10 sheet and mill your own knife handles.

I’m also making a ring, so metal lathe works better on that part

Ahhh, yeah. I mean you could do the blank on a stouter vertical mill but a lathe may be easier for initial shaping. I personally hate lathes because of how dangerous they are. I see guys use our shop lathe here and will kick them out of the shop because they are over there running it and wearing loose long sleeves or have strings from a hooded sweatshirt dangling by the head Stresses me the fuck out. Same with our big drill press when they are running it on auto feed and wearing stout work gloves or they get between the workpiece and the press in it's direction of travel. They get pissed, but I don't care. I'd rather not have to hose their remains off the floor and ceiling.

so your childhood only existed for as long as that person was alive?

what happens when your mother dies? do you pull a back-to-the-future and fade from existence?

My wife volunteered me to audit the books of the Blue Star Moms. I've spent the last five hours figuring out what these women call bookkeeping. Very creative. It is amazing how confusing they can make it for a checking and savings account that in total have about 5 transactions a month

Never again. I'm retired.

Me too lol. Except I go back through my bank records every month or two to check if anything seems odd. Same for credit cards. It helps that I'm boring.

i do that once a year or so.

then i panic because amazon orders show as obscure codes, and rarely bill on the same day the purchase is made, and multiple-item orders usually bill out separately, so it all looks fraudulent. call amazon, call the bank, flip out some more, realize i made the purchase, then relax...

Possibly another day with no power. The power companies got sued over not shutting off power from the fire two years ago. They have it off now due to very dry conditions and high winds. Hasn't been that windy but two fires have sprang up in my area. Luckily my parents have a gas water heater at their place and I can still catch a shower.

i'm so glad all my appliances are gas...

i didn't think you were that rural. or is it more the local town doesn't want to run natural gas to all the houses?

I have gas at my place, I just decided to go electric on the water heater since it is in the house and I didn’t want to do the ventilation and roof penetrations needed to run one.

My parents place is a town of 1500 in the sticks. My place is only 10 miles east of the capital. I am still staying with my parents since house isn’t quite livable yet since I found some more issues I had to deal with.
