All three of those diseases are back in my state due to what Oregon Health Authority calls "travelers".

There's been an increase in 'extinct' illness coming back due to such a prevalent anti-vaxx movement.

Sad thing is at least 2 of the things on your list create pretty serious social costs/externalities. I'm pretty heavily into the first two and the last, but I can empathize with the folks that want to regulate, or even eliminate them (or at least 2 of them).

Of course, eliminating even ICE cars and firearms is, for the moment. not really possible. But the regulate/banners have a point or three.

Yeah same here. I am actually looking at picking up a bow though I will probably still rifle hunt.

Oh man I miss using a bow. I haven't shot one consistently since high school.

Like many things, one in particular is fueled by a thick topping of ignorance. 90% of the people wanting to eliminate them know absolutely nothing of them. And the ones I've talked to about it usually use words like, "clip", "high capacity magazine", "assault rifle", or "Sniper rifle" at least once in each sentence. But, I digress, that's a topic for a totally different subforum or location.

The curious part of all this from another KFF/WaPo survey published last April:

Almost half of all health care workers in U.S. haven't had COVID-19 vaccine, survey shows

"This leaves 48% of frontline health care workers who have not yet received a COVID-19 vaccine despite the fact that health care workers who have direct contact with patients were among the first groups prioritized for vaccine access across all states"

https://www.kff.org/coronavirus-covi...-care-workers/

Most of the hospitals in my area are mandating vaccines now, and it seems that California is going to follow other states in mandating vaccines for healthcare workers, so my hospital will be moving to vaccinate or terminate employees. Frankly, it is about time. Hopefully, other industries will follow.

Obviously, the nation has a need for healthcare workers, so I don’t know what they would do if everyone who isn’t vaccinated decides to quit. They might rescind the mandate or move to a national mandate. Only two options.

I don't think there will be a national mandate. My wife and I were discussing this and we thought about how childhood vaccinations are "enforced". What we landed on was a child's entering school. It's not so much required any more as there are those who object due to personal convictions but I do believe a public school can refuse admittance, at least in the US. With charter schools and online K-12 it's not so much an issue as it was in the 90's.

If an airline or cruise ship or train requires a vaccination passport there are always other means to travel... or you can decide to stay home just like if you decide you don't want a REAL ID.

I think most will decide to get vaccinated if not for the protection it provides but to be able to eat in a public restaurant or go to a movie.

I have yet to hear a valid argument for not getting vaccinated. The most common arguments I have heard relate to either the Tuskegee Incident or tracking implants. If you use fluoride toothpaste, drink from public water supplies, use a cell phone or a store loyalty card you are already subjected to things that you have not consented or did not know you have consented. These are not political statements... they are facts.

Some family member who was vaccinated with me back in February just got a positive test.

I told this to a friend and his response ‘ya, vaxxed people are getting it more than non vaxxed.’

Fucking hell.

I took the vaccine to help keep me out of the hospital, to help keep me from dying (from COVID) and to minimize my symptoms if I were to get infected.

As far as your friend, I reckon he needs to get out more -

The media media bloodlust for ratings and clicks doesn't help the cause. Nor does a leader who can't remember his own name.
