You can't get the V8 with a manual.
I was looking hard at the SC V6 manuals before I ordered the new BRZ. But when I looked at the beginning of the year, there was something like 15 for sale with the SC V6 and manual.

I forgot an Alpha 4C. If only a manua…but yeah, I would still probably take it over an 86 if someone wanted to hand out a car sub $100k to me.

2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing sneaks in at $86,615 with the 6 Speed Manual, and leaving a little room for accessories, like the $9K carbon aero package I would probably pass on. That's for the red. The orange saves you about $500.
It does have four doors though so probably doesn't qualify for this conversation. In that case, The Corvette LT3 Z51 in Red Mist Metallic at around $87K would fit the bill nicely. That said, I'm not going to turn down your Jag if that's what is available.

Manual or not I would take a 4C. But if we are talking cars not in production I’d rather have an Exige or Elise.

In fact I just came across the write up on this little gem the other day. Well under $100K and I'll take it! https://www.hemmings.com/stories/202...ind-of-the-day

Not gonna watch the clickbait.
For sake of conversation, I suppose it depends on what makes it "best". It's probably best for certain types of customer, regardless of price. All these other cars, despite being great to drive, have drawbacks in practicality, maintenance, and/or size and weight. The 86/brz has an interesting balance of attributes that make it the best fit for some people, regardless of price. I consider getting a "better" sports car at least once a year and still here I am 9 years later with my FRS. It probably has something to do with only having a 2 car garage and doing my own maintenance lol. Last edited by Spuds; 09-18-2022 at 08:01 PM. Reason: Spelling |

I have driven a couple of Miata's and there is not one single thing about them where I preferred their "feel". The shifter is soft and mushy, the steering is imprecise, the body roll is... well Miata like.

They are amazingly beautiful cars. Just saw one when we went to the OSU game this weekend.
