I ordered in early September and was told to expect it to arrive in January.

Most BRZ's have been showing up in 4-6 months from what I've seen. BUT more importantly if you order a BRZ one is going to come with your name on it so to speak. If you were not aware Toyota does not do ordering like that in the US. So if you go the Toyota route they will take your name, maybe money and your preferences (trim, color, ect.) and it will hold your place in line at the dealership for the next GR86 that Toyota Corp randomly allocated to that dealership...

4 - 6 okay a bit better for sure and more likely to show up.
I think in Canada it is a little bit different because my dealer can request a specific spec but I think it is entirely random when a car matching that spec can be allocated to said dealer.

I know this because I have had them do this for me before but there seems to be no pattern to how long the wait is because it is random.

The Canadian dealer network also seems to be much better at trading cars between locations than the US one. Even on the high demand cars. This is how my dealer in London managed to snag the last MT Hakone in the country from a dealer in Calgary.

Canadian dealers can and do have "Market Adjustment" markups.
MSRP for top trim for Canada is $35,895 but good luck getting one at that https://www.autotrader.ca/cars/subaru/brz/2022/ note the "below market value" notations under the prices!

Many people do. It isn't that is a myth. There has been much debate. The only law we have is that all prices listed for each car must be the same. Can't say "It's $25,000" in an ad and then when you get there they say "Oh we added extras so it is actually $30,000". If they want $30,000 they just need to advertise $30,000.

It's more so that dealers haven't been as exploitive as the in the US. Further to Tcoat's comment usually they will tack on their add ons and list it at higher price so if you want it you have no choice to pay the market adjustment. Thankfully many dealers (at least the ones I deal with) practice selling at msrp or will place an order.

Don't buy in Edmonton though - those buggers jack up the sale price on everything - always have.

Good news, the FTC is looking to put an end to some of the shady dealership garbage we have to suffer through when it comes to the purchase experience here in the US:

Got it this morning without any problems. Salesman said he was getting calls on it all week from around the country.

Just need to get some plugs for the bumper holes (dealer didn't do it, so either port or factory) and a tow hook plate mount. Keeping the plate in the front windshield temporarily.

My window sticker works now! Hopefully should be here within a week since it's getting delivered by truck rather than train.

It comes by train from the one of the ports to the rail head, then from there it's delivered by truck. Mine came in through the port of Richmond.

Train to DFW, truck to OKC. Is yours coming in through Houston? It should say so on your window sticker.
